Synopsis[]
Haruka Kawashima has a nightmare about his dad and Gankoomon. Later in the same nightmare, his dream self complains to AeroVeedramon about how his dad left him on his own to go adventuring with "someone else". Seeing Haruka's jealousy, an unknown Digimon[citation needed] tells him that his dad didn't choose him because he was weak but that if he becomes stronger than "that someone" his dad will choose him instead. It also tells him that he already had what he needs to get stronger, his watch. In the real world, the real life version of the unknown Digimon[citation needed] had been saying the same things to the asleep version of Haruka — and eventually leaves.
Some time later, Gankoomon tells Haruka that they are going on patrol. As they need to solve the recent incident, they needed to go around and talk to the various Digimon, with Haruka coming with it since Gankoomon knows nothing about the Human World and as such would be unable to notice if anything weird was going on. Gankoomon tells Haruka he can protect himself with his watch if anything goes wrong, with Haruka asking what it even was in the first place. Gankoomon tells him it was a prototype made by Hajime and the other researchers, and that it was a device that allows the user to transport matter between the Digital World and Human World — but that it also had Digimon data stored on it, allowing the usage of various Digimon's weapons/tools. Haruka asks if they could just send the Digimon back to the Digital World with the watch, though Gankoomon says they can't as the watch will break if the data sent through it was too high and as such they would only be able to do that one time. Figuring Gankoomon would stick out, Haruka has Gankoomon put on his dad's clothes so that he could try to pass as a regular human.
As they walk around the City, Gankoomon enjoys taking in the sights and enjoys the fact that Human life was so laid back since the Digital World has everyone constantly fighting for survival. It tells Haruka how it had collaborated with Hajime and the others as it figured sending the weakest Digimon to the Human Would would help them survive, and that the stronger Digimon would help raise them in the much safer World. Gankoomon gets off the train, thinking they had reached their stop — though their stop was actually the next one — and as Haruka hadn't got off the train, it leaves and separates the duo.
Some time later, having reunited, the duo go to the park and talk about Hajime. Gankoomon asks if Haruka ever did this sort of thing with him, with Haruka saying they didn't. Gankoomon asks if he hates his dad, and though Haruka says it's hard to like someone you don't know — he doesn't hate him either. As Gankoomon was in the middle of saying how deep a quote that was, the nearby kids and jungle gym disappear. A Vajramon shows up, with Gankoomon summoning Hinukamuy in response. Gankoomon yells at Haruka to run away, as Vajramon's attack creates fissures and that Haruka would die if he were to end up falling into one of them. Haruka thinks back to his nightmare though, and remembers the message from the mystery Digimon of how he needs to get stronger refuses to leave. He uses the watch to summon various things, though they all wind up being useless. As Gankoomon watches Haruka's failed attempts, it dodges an attack from Pajiramon at the last second — who had shot an arrow at it from atop a building. As Gankoomon tries to dodge the rest of its attacks, it realizes it's not mobile enough in the Human World to avoid them all and tells Hinukamuy to shield it from the arrows. Having seen Gankoomon distracted by Pajiramon, Vajiramon had launched an attack at Haruka — but Hinukamuy's intervention had allowed Gankoomon to save Haruka. Upset at the fact Hinukamuy had been hurt, and Haruka had nearly died, Gankoomon punches Vajramon so hard it gets launched far away into the sky. Seeing this, Pajiramon runs away.
Gankoomon yells at Haruka and asks why he had done what he did, with Haruka saying he had to get stronger so that his dad would accept him. Gankoomon tells Haruka that without him, he wouldn't be able to travel the Human World very well and asks if that means it's weak. Before Haruka can answer, Gankoomon tells him that just because he can't fight — it doesn't mean he is weak, and that they can get stronger together by helping each other out, as that's what partners do. Haruka apologizes for what he had done, though Gankoomon says he will have to save his self reflection for later as Vajramon had returned. As Gankoomon wonders how it can defeat Vajramon and keep Haruka safe at the same time without the help of the defeated Hinukamuy, it notices Haruka was holding Etemon's mic that he had summoned from his watch earlier. He tells him to yell really loudly into the mic, then launches attacks against Vajramon. During the fight, as it notices Vajramon was about to use its Rohda attack, Gankoomon covers its ears and tells Haruka to do as it had said. Haruka does so, with the noise being enough to distract Vajramon and prevent it from launching its attack. This gives Gankoomon the opening it needed, with it proceeding to defeat and knock out Vajramon. With Vajramon dealt with, Gankoomon brings up Pajiramon and asks Haruka to help it track it down.
The duo eventually find Pajiramon, with Gankoomon defeating it with ease. Gankoomon drags the knocked out Pajiramon back to where Vajramon was, with the duo eventually waking up and the duo realizing they had lost control of their actions at some point (and as such were now back to normal). Gankoomon tells AeroVeedramon to take them to the forest, with Vajramon saying it will get stronger so that it can fight Gankoomon again one day. Haruka mentions to Pajiramon that he had actually seen its arrows before in his dreams, with Pajiramon saying it had actually noticed it was missing a few and might've shot them whilst it was enraged...or had had them stolen, and someone else had been using them. It explains that anyone struck with its arrows have a nightmare, though further discussion has Pajiramon say it is unable to talk to those it gives nightmares to. This concerns everyone, as whoever was causing Digimon rampages and had stolen its arrows must've been really strong as they were able to manipulate two members of the Deva — who — whilst not as strong as the Royal Knights — were still some of the strongest Digimon in the Digital World.
After returning home, Haruka asks Gankoomon if he would be able to defeat such a strong mysterious Digimon — to which Gankoomon says it is confident it could. Haruka then tells Gankoomon about its nightmare, and how he had seen Pajiramon's arrows inside it. In addition, there was a voice telling him that he was too weak, and that the voice didn't belong to Pajiramon. Gankoomon complains that he had waited until now to tell him, since he had told him to tell him about anything weird that had happened — with Haruka saying he didn't think it had actually mattered since it was just a dream. Gankoomon tells Haruka just how much his dad talked about him, and that the watch is filled with data that it and his dad had collected for Haruka during their travels. He says that Hajime wouldn't have left because he thought his son was weak and that he probably just wanted to show he cared with actions rather than words. Haruka doubts this though, saying that his dad was nothing like Gankoomon. Whether he believes Gankoomon's words or not, he says he hopes he can talk to his dad about everything he was hiding at some point so he can scald him for everything he has done. He then says he wishes his dad was like Gankoomon instead of how he actually was.
Later that night, Gankoomon thinks back to Haruka's words about wanting to get stronger — which causes it to think about Hackmon. It then realizes it has no room to talk, as it had treated Hackmon the same exact way that Hajime had been treating Haruka.
