- From this day forward, for the new thousand years at least... we call this day... Unity Day!
Superman (Volume 5) #15 is an issue of the series Superman (Volume 5) with a cover date of November, 2019. It was published on September 18, 2019.
Synopsis for "The Unity Saga: The House of El - The Conclusion: Part Two"
Superman watches as Rogol Zaar is placed inside a stasis field by the free people of the galaxy, until Adam Strange arrives at Rogol's cell, having heard the news about the so-called "United Nations in Space." Superman embraces Adam, happy to see a friendly face after so much fighting. Adam has also heard the news about the Legion of Super-Heroes.
Moments ago, the Legion had arrived to the current era to congratulate Superboy for inspiring the galaxy to form the United Planets. Superboy and Supergirl tell the Legion that the United Planets they talk about so much hasn't actually been formed yet, they have merely suggested the idea of the United Planets. Brainiac 5, the Legion's science expert, discovers that they haven't actually arrived at the exact moment of the United Planets' founding.
Still, everyone present is surprised that their union indeed became the dominant power in the galaxy and endured for a thousand years and Lightning Lad explains that the Legionnaires wanted to add their voices to the United Planets' founding. When questions are asked about Earth's representation in the new galactic union, Superman answers that he will represent Earth, a decision that goes unopposed by everyone present. Inspired by the Legion, Superboy proclaims that from a thousand years on, this day shall be known as "Unity Day."
The Legionnaires still ask for Superboy's allegiance, but Superboy asks for some time so he can think about it, to which the Legionnaires agree before returning to their time.
Adam congratulates Superman for having a son that saved a lot of lives thanks to his idea, but Superman feels uncomfortable about Superboy possibly joining the Legion. Adam reluctantly informs Superman that the free people of the galaxy has declared his father, Jor-El, guilty for crimes against the galaxy. Jor-El is guilty of creating Rogol Zaar, a monster that caused billions of deaths across the universe, and one can only guess how many crimes he committed as a member of the Circle. Superman tries to reason with Adam, saying that Jor-El was born and raised in another time and circumstances were different back then, but Adam says that his crimes are not to different from the crimes Superman and Adam address on a regular basis.
A sentence has been passed. Since Jor-El was taken from his original place in the time stream by some strange anomaly, his prosecutors believe that the only appropriate punishment for him is to return him to Krypton, moments before the planet is destroyed. Sure enough, Jor-El is transported to that exact same moment and dies along with the rest of Krypton, but not before telling his past self that their son succeeded. He united the universe.
Later, Superman returns to his family and has a conversation with General Zod, who has been informed that the United Planets has granted him control of a small region of space that can be used to bring Krypton's people and culture back from the brink of extinction; a "New Krypton", so to speak. For once, the future of Krypton is secured and Zod sees no reason for the hostilities between the House of Zod and the House of El to continue. Zod will work towards creating a better tomorrow for the people of Krypton and Superman and his family are welcome to join them if they so desire.
For now, however, Superman and his family wish to return to the home they already have on Earth. They have so much to think about and so much to talk about; especially Superboy, who hasn't seen Damian Wayne for a while.
