- Preston Payne was created by Len Wein and Marshall Rogers, first appearing in Detective Comics #477. However, in the Prime Earth continuity, Preston Payne first appeared as part of the New 52 DC Universe in Nightwing 2021 Annual (Volume 4) #1 by Tom Taylor and Cian Tormey.
