Peacemaker in Sturphausen's apartment

Quote1 I used to think God put me here for a purpose. For peace. I know I said I didn't care how many people I needed to torture and kill to get it, but... y'know, lately I just think I'm a fuckin' maniac, like... I don't know. I'm havin'... feelings about things. Quote2

Synopsis for "Best Friends, For Never"

Christopher Smith DC Extended Universe 019

Peacemaker in Sturphausen's apartment

After catching his breath from the fight with Annie Sturphausen, Peacemaker calls Harcourt to explain the situation, and she heads over to Sturphausen's apartment with Adebayo, realizing he's just killed a Butterfly. While getting ready to leave, Peacemaker raids the apartment for vinyl rock 'n roll records before the Evergreen P.D. police arrives, led by Detective Sophie Song. The cops raid the building, and Peacemaker holds Amber and Evan, a bickering couple, hostage to keep himself safe, all while lightly flirting with Amber. When Harcourt and Adebayo arrive, Peacemaker narrowly escapes the police with Eagly, driving away with his teammates.

At the team's headquarters, Economos switches out the registered fingerprints on Peacemaker's car for his father Auggie before the rest of the team arrives. Chris receives stitches from Economos, and realizes that he'd left his mission dossier on Sturphausen's bed, which she read before attempting to kill him. Murn berates Chris for his careless actions, but Chris retorts that he hadn't been told how important the mission was, or even what a Butterfly is. Murn sends him home while Adebayo goes off to bribe the Calcaterras to finger Auggie instead of Chris.

Vigilante cheers up Peacemaker with target practice

Peacemaker returns to his trailer home, where he reunites with the sadistically upbeat Vigilante, who idolizes Peacemaker and views himself as his best friend (aside from Eagly, of course). After the two catch up, Peacemaker admits that he's becoming disillusioned by his self-assigned purpose as a vigilante, given how awful he's treated by his teammates for his rude behavior. Vigilante assures him that it's for the greater good, and cheers him up by holding a target practice for the two of them in a nearby forest.

Adebayo successfully bribes the Calcaterras to have Auggie arrested and incarcerated in the Evergreen Correctional Center. There, he rejoins many of his allies in the Aryan Empire, a white supremacist group Auggie ran as the supervillain "White Dragon" for many years. Meanwhile, Chris, in the aftermath of a threesome with Amber and Vigilante, examines a small device he found in Annie's apartment, which he accidentally causes to enlarge into a small spacecraft that confuses and captivates all three of them.
