The Asgardians, more properly known as the Aesir, were worshipped as gods by ancient Germanic peoples and their Norse branches in Scandinavia. They live in the extradimensional realm known as Asgard.
History
The Aesir are the main family of deities living in Asgard ("enclosure of the Aesir"), ruled by Odin and Frigga, with other important representatives being Thor, Balder and Tyr. However, over time, they also welcome members of other Norse god families, such as Loki and his daughter Hel of the Jotuns of Jotunheim, and Freyr and Freyja of the Vanir, originally from Vanaheim, all of them fully integrated into Aesir.
