Synopsis for "Big Stick Energy, Part 2 of 4"

Marcus meets up with Shifu Pigsy before school. He apologises for being too afraid to go in the water and Pigsy tells him the story of his father the Monkey King, and his overwheling fear of death. Sun Wukong was so afraid of death that he defied the gods and attacked the Heavenly Realm itself, stealing and devouring the Peaches of Immortality. Now immortal, the Monkey King grew in power until he was feared by all and thought himself the greatest of all, but he was humbled by the Buddha, who buried him beneath a mountain of rock. He was only freed when he agreed to accompany Tripitaka on his pilgrimage to India, where he also first met Pigsy. Upon completion of the pilgrimage, he achieved enlightenment and overcame his fear of death by serving a mission greater than himself. When Marcus asks where Monkey King is now, Pigsy tells him that he was blasted out of reality by Darkseid during the final battle between Apokolips and the Gods of China, and Marcus seems to take the wrong lesson from the story by pointing out that if the Monkey King had been more afraid he would have stayed out of the battle and avoided that fate.

At Black Manta's hideout, Marcus' parents free Silver Horn King from his gourd but, having learned from what happened in Gotham, channel the demon into a tiny hermit crab and give Manta a device that will allow him to control Silver Horn King. Meanwhile at the bottom of the ocean, Shellestriah captures an Atlantean scout and delivers him to her father. The scout manages to send a warning message to Atlantis before he is devoured by the Trench.

At Amnesty Bay High School, Marcus tries to make friends in the cafeteria but is rebuffed and goes to eat lunch alone. Suddenly, Black Manta rides the possessed hermit crab, now grown to gigantic sizes, past the school. Meanwhile in Atlantis, Aquaman receives the scout's warning that an attack is imminent and dispatches the Atlantean Guard to investigate. The Guard pass over Atlantis' never before seen or mentioned "Dragontown" neighborhood, populated by humanoid Chinese dragons, one of whom claims to have once worked for the Monkey King's adversary the Dragon King Ao Guang and have a shard of the Monkey King's staff Ruyi Jingu Bang lodged in his head.

Black Manta's control device is damaged in a shootout with the Amnesty Bay Police Department and the crab goes into a frenzy. Marcus transforms and finds that the crab is too tough for him to harm, but Pigsy appears and gives him another can of blessed soda, which Marcus uses to exorcise the demon. The crab returns to normal and Silver Horn King's spirit disappears into the ocean. Black Manta's henchmen arrive and Manta orders them to chase Silver Horn King into the sea. Although they are masked, Marcus recognises the henchmen as his parents and is determined to follow them to keep them safe. He dives into the water and finds to his amazement that he can breathe underwater, but he and Pigsy are immediately surrounded by the Atlantean Guard.

At the same moment the shard of Jingu Bang in the dragon's forehead grows into a great pillar, and in the Phantom Zone the Monkey King awakes.
