Josef Schuman was a Jewish reporter that worked for the Daily Planet.
History
Josef was a new reporter for the Daily Planet, unaware of what he was going to get himself into, he was caught in the midst of a fight between Superman and Doctor Polaris, alongside Jimmy Olsen he helped Superman defeat Polaris, but at the cost of his car.[1] Josef started working with Jimmy, but he expressed his concern as he often puts himself in dangerous situations, he even saved the latter from being crushed by Black Adam and Superman fighting.[2]
One time, Superman attended a dinner with Josef and his wife, where Josef expressed his concern for the influence Superman has over Jimmy, worrying that he could get himself killed one day, but Superman counters with the notion that it's actually the other way around, he is the one inspired by people who do kindness or search for the truth despite risking their life, from doctors, parents, firemen, journalists etc. he also points out how Josef himself is part of that group, as he saw the time he saved Jimmy.[3]
