The Doom Patrol title was formerly known as My Greatest Adventure and began publication as The Doom Patrol in 1964 with issue #86. The series was cancelled with the climactic deaths of the title characters in issue #121, but resurfaced in 1973 for three issues, all of which were reprints of older Doom Patrol tales. A new Doom Patrol team appeared in 1977 in Showcase #94-#96 and became recurring characters in Supergirl's backup feature in Superman Family and her second series. With the exception of a few appearances, the team remained in limbo until the series was revived once again in 1987 with Doom Patrol (Volume 2).
