Dennis Barclay was a psychiatrist who was mistakenly led by Harry Kay to believe that he had psychic healing ability.[1]
History
While generally well-meaning, he still did the Sunderland Corporation's bidding, including causing Matt Cable brain damage which erased some of his memories and gave him the power to create lifelike phantasms when sufficiently excited.[2][3]
Soon however he learned better and rebelled against Sunderland, joining Lizabeth Tremayne and Swamp Thing in their search for Karen "Casey" Clancy and for a cure for Swamp Thing's illness.[1]
He eventually succeeded at diagnosing and treating Swamp Thing,[4] but he and Liz remained companions of the creature for some time after.
Soon later the group briefly made reacquaintance with former Swamp Thing companions Matt Cable and his wife Abby.[2] Unfortunately, he eventually became unbalanced and abusive towards his companion Lizabeth, forcing Abby's hand towards allowing his death.[5]
Years later, Barclay's corpse would be re-animated by Swamp Thing villain Anton Arcane and used to terrorize Swamp Thing, Abby and Lady Jane. After Arcane was defeated, he returned to death.[6]
