The Batmage is an evil sorcerer from the Dark Multiverse and was appointed by the Batman Who Laughs to watch over Wonder Woman's reign of Hell.
History
The Batmage was trained in magic from the master magician Giovanni Zatara and eventually became the Batman. The key difference was that he didn't become a vigilante like Earth 0's Batman, but instead focused on learning Chaos Magic which he eventually mastered. With his powerful magical skills, he would kill the sorcerer Mordru and bound Etrigan to his own soul before conquering all of Earth. He also captured the Spectre and used him to power his magic wand.[1]
He was recruited by the Batman Who Laughs into the Dark Knights alongside other evil Batmen of the Dark Multiverse and participated in the invasion of Earth 0 under a pact with Perpetua. Batmage himself went to Themyscira where the Amazons and the Justice League Dark confronted him together, but were soon overpowered when he unleashed the demonic hordes (all dressed like Batman) of Hell upon them. Wonder Woman after returning from unsuccessfully battling Perpetua faced him, but was soon forced to submit for the safety of her fellow Amazons. He also conquered all the realms of magic of Earth 0, resulting in devastation of much of the United States.[1]
The Batmage was later appointed by the Batman Who Laughs to watch over Wonder Woman's reign over Themyscira (which was turned into a new Hell and made into a jail for all the supervillains) and was sent alongside Beyonder as well B-Rex to deliver their newest prisoner Wally West to her, being ordered to take him straight into the Tartarus pits instead of a cell.[3]
When Batman of Earth 0 attacked the Batman Who Laughs, Wonder Woman fought the evil Batmen so he could escape, but Batmage restrained her with his magic.[3] After Laughs was killed by her, Batmage and his fellow evil Batmen got to work reviving him alongside the evil Alfreds, placing his brain into the body of the Final Bruce Wayne. Not long after being revived, Laughs disintegrated Batmage and the others as he didn't need them anymore.[2]
Later, the Batmage was resurrected by the new incarnation of the One who Laughs, the Darkest Knight, to fight, along with the other Dark Multiverse's survivors and the villains from the Last 52 Multiverse, against the Earth 0's resistence in the final battle between good and evil. During the clash, the Batmage and the also-resurrected B-Rex faced the undead villain, Solomon Grundy.[4]

- It is unknown if the Batmage vanished from existence forever after the Multiverse's restoration[4] or if he is alive somewhere in the Dark Multiverse.
