Synopsis for "Countdown to Injustice: Chapter Four, Heightened Doubt"
Jon returns to the Hall of Justice with Superman, shaken by what he has seen. Superman and his allies need to go off-world with Sinestro, again to Jon's shock that they are working with Sinestro, and Clark asks him to stay behind. Jon readily agrees and, after they leave, wonders how he can save this world and go home. He spots Lex Luthor getting into a truck and follows him.
Luthor drives to the Insurgency's hidden base to meet with Batman and the others. He has brought Ultraman's body and shows them his energy-draining device built into his costume's emblem, suggesting they could use it to stop their Superman. Jon appears in the base, accusing Luthor of being obsessed with destroying Superman like his world's Lex. The Insurgency charge at Jon and he dodges their blows, believing that they have no powers and trying to avoid hurting them, only for Batman to easily take him down. The Insurgency pin him, revealing that they all have super-strength like Damian, and Batman punches him at full-strength in the face.
Jon is not knocked out and again instinctively activates his energy powers. He blasts the Insurgency away but when Batgirl tries to attack him he asks her to stop, telling her that they are friends on his world and her counterpart is happy with Nightwing, who is alive and well. He tells them he doesn't want to fight and is just trying to understand what is going on. Alfred Pennyworth emerges and suggests they all stand down. After Alfred serves tea, Luthor explains that he was once Clark's friend, and has been trying to steer him off the dark path he is one ever since his "fall", but he now realises that Clark must be stopped. Lex asks Jon to help them but he still isn't convinced that Batman and the others are the good guys, pointing out that Batman failed to support Clark and Damian in their darkest moments. He leaves, saying he won't tell Superman about them but he still needs to learn more before he picks a side.
He returns to the Hall, where Damian confronts him. Jon explains that they are best friends on his world, and tries to comfort him about Dick Grayson's death, but Damian tells him they aren't friends on this world. He secretly plants a tracer on Jon and storms off, telling him that he will kill him if he tries to harm Superman.
Jon flies to Gamorra to look for the Jay Nakamura of Earth 49, hoping to get the perspective of someone unbiased and not carrying the grief and pain that this world's heroes are. He finds Jay and asks to speak with him. Jay explains that Superman is a brutal dictator and that he murdered Black Canary and Green Arrow. He asks Jon why he came to him and Jon shyly admits that they are dating on his world. Jon departs, now knowing what he has to do. As soon as he leaves, Robin bursts in to Jay's apartment and demands to know what he told Jon.
