Templates[]

There are now a variety of templates for our use. These are the main [new] ones:

  • Appear--Use episode's abbreviation. Uppercase and lowercase both used.
  • Rename
  • Needs Help--For the articles that aren't really stubs, but aren't really complete.
  • S for Support, use {{S}}, O for Oppose, use {{O}}, and C for Comment, use {{C}}
  • Infoboxes: Object, Location, Character, Ability, User infobox
  • Navboxes: Objects, Locations, Merchandise, Staff
  • Merge--This is for pages that are suggested to merge with another page.
  • For--This is for disambiguation pages.
  • Self (This template is just to satisfy one of the licensing options for image uploads)
  • From:Wikimedia (This template is just to satisfy one of the licensing options for image uploads)
  • Expand
  • Game (This is for the video game merchandise.)
  • Citation needed--This is to be placed after content that is not a well-known fact or piece of information, and lacks citation to verify the information.

Image upload/naming info[]

As per a vote made on the forums, the format for image naming is as follows: S#e# description. The season and episode number must include a starting zero (ex: S01e01). If the episode number is more than one digit (i.e. 10, 11, etc.) no zero is needed (ex:S01e10). See this image for an example.

  • For movies, the format is S#M# description. M stands for movie. The season and movie number must both include a leading zero (ex: S02M01).
  • For images from the theme song, the naming format is as follows:
    • If it is an image from the first opening (pre-DP logo; episodes up to and including Memory Blank): Open01 description.png
    • If it is an image from the second opening (post-DP logo; episodes including and after Doctor's Disorders): Open02 description.png
    • If it is unclear which version the image is from: Open description.png

If the image is retrieved from dannyphantomscreencaps.weebly.com the image summary must say the following: Image retrieved from http://dannyphantomscreencaps.weebly.com. All credit goes to the site's creator.

  • For the above, the licensing should be "Fair use images"
  • From this site, crop images that have black bars on their sides (movies like PP, etc.).

Categories for images[]

Every image should get category tag(s) added. Here are the guidelines:

    • For animated gifs only: always have "Gifs"
    • For screencaps: always have the episode's abbreviation (see table above for the list). If it's from the opening, use "Opening" instead of episode abbreviation. The category is written as "episodeabbreviation images" where episodeabbreviation is the episode's abbreviation (example: MM images). See here for the list episode images categories.
    • For non-screencaps: always have "Images"
    • Category for characters in the image: recurring characters (sans the ones that begin with "Unnamed") have their own category. The category is written as "charactername images" where charactername is the character's first name (example: Danny images). See here for the list of character images categories.
    • Other categories: Cast and crew images, Comic images, Merchandise images, Original art, Production artwork, Storyboard images, Title cards

  • Season 2:

      • Note: this is a double ep., so S02e17/18 became S02e19/20.

Renaming vs. replacing images[]

  • IF...an image is both poor quality AND not named properly (most likely in the "Misnamed Images" category)...
    • IF OLD IMAGE IS A .jpg
      • Here is the how to for having wikia automatically replace a jpg with a png. It will replace it on all pages where it is used.
        1. Upload the png equivalent (the png version of the image). [This is uploaded just as you would any normal image.]
        2. Open the jpg file and copy its name
        3. Open the queue (it is the bottom most option in the drop down menu, next to "edit")
        4. Click "add manually"
        5. Paste the jpg file name into the first blank. Paste the png file into the second blank.
        6. Click "add to queue"
        • Optional: You can repeat numbers 5 and 6 for several images, rather than just opening up "add manually" every time you want to replace an image.*
        1. Click "close" (the button to the left of "add to queue").
        2. Click "execute"
        3. Delete the .jpg and choose the deletion summary as "replaced with a png equivalent" and write "Replaced with xxx" in the "Other/additional reason" box
    • IF OLD IMAGE IS A .png
      1. Directly replace old version with new.
      2. Set it to be renamed to new, proper name and 'add to queue' or rename immediately (if it's just one).
      3. Add credits for image site (if it's from there).

  • IF...an image is good (or higher) quality, but it is not named properly...
    • Put it in the "Images that need renaming" category
    • Put the new name the image should be renamed as in a "New Name" section beneath the image.
    • Add categories and add the image to the pages it belongs on.
    • Once it's renamed, replace old name with new name on pages (see "Redirects How-To").
  • IF...the image has the correct name, but a poor image, simply replace the old image with the new one directly on the image's file page.

How to create a redirect[]

(ex.: creating redirect "Technus/Gallery" for page "Nicolai Technus/Gallery"):

  1. Click "add a page"
  2. Type the desired redirect into the page title. Here, it would be "Technus/Gallery"
  3. Here, I switch to "source editor". Type "#REDIRECT: [ [x] ]" (or "#"REDIRECT [ [pagename#heading] ]") where x (or pagename) is the target page. In this case, x is Nicolai Technus/Gallery. Do not type in the spaces within the brackets, that is just here so you can see what to do.
  4. Click "apply changes"
  5. A box titled "options" will pop up (the options box has a few tabs, but it will automatically open on "Page settings".
  6. Click the box "redirect to this page", so that it has a check mark.
  7. Click apply changes and then save the page.
