Lucky skill
A lucky skill (Japanese: ポテンシャル Potential) is a game mechanic in Pokémon Masters EX that was introduced in update 1.7.0. Lucky skills are additional passive skills that can be unlocked by using Lucky Scrolls and Lucky Cookies. Lucky Scrolls and Lucky Cookies can be obtained as rewards at the Battle Villa or in the Lucky Skill Area.
Mechanics
A sync pair has a total of three lucky skill slots: one active slot and two stock slots. These slots start out locked; unlocking them requires Lucky Scrolls. The number of Lucky Scrolls required is equal to the sync pair's base potential (e.g., a 3★ sync pair requires three Lucky Scrolls). The slots do not need to be unlocked individually; unlocking the active slot will unlock the stock slots as well.
Once the slot is unlocked, the player can use a lucky cookie to obtain a random lucky skill. As detailed below, the different varieties of cookie have different pools of available skills, generally thematically related (like stat protection skills for Creamy Lucky Cookies). The rarer cookies also have higher chances of granting a stronger skill (like 3★ Creamy Lucky Cookies have a high chance of choosing a skill that prevents stats from being lowered, while 1★ Creamy Lucky Cookies are more likely to choose a skill that only mitigates stat-lowering effects).
The first skill earned from a lucky cookie is automatically written to the active slot. If an additional lucky cookie is used on the sync pair, the player can see the skill given by the cookie and choose to either learn a different skill using the same type of cookie or accept the new skill. The player can then choose to overwrite a lucky skill slot to learn the skill (either the active slot or a stock slot) or proceed without learning the skill. Skills are not automatically written to stock slots; these slots must be manually overwritten to contain lucky skills.
Once the sync pair has lucky skills stocked, a stocked lucky skill can be set to the active slot. The lucky skill currently in the active slot will be swapped into the stock slot that contained the stocked lucky skill.
