- “Treasure was something now. Treasure was something horrible.”
- ―Treasure[src]
Treasure, born Connie DeMarco, was once a human runaway from Sunnydale who joined the Wild Hunt as one of its undead hunters.[1]
Biography[]
Early life[]
Connie was raised in an unstable lower-class household with her parents Liz and Artie DeMarco. Artie was an aggressive and bullying man who would shout and occasionally hit Connie. He also called her a tramp and a brat who messed up their lives. Liz did nothing to stop her husband and also sometimes shouted at Connie. In the worst fights, she would call her daughter a waste that would amount to nothing.
Connie got romantically involved with an illegal immigrant boy who worked for her family named Bobby, who gave her a necklace with her name engraved on it, though he misspelled it as "Conny." Liz ordered Connie to break off her relationship with Bobby, heavily insulting the boy. Afterward, Connie ran away from home and was found on the street by a fellow runaway, Shock, who referred to her as Treasure.[1]
The Hunt[]
Treasure was at a bus stop watching her mother hand out flyers about a runaway shelter she was establishing when she was attacked by a dark faerie. Her cries attracted her mother's attention, though Treasure ran away to avoid being found. She was captured by the Wild Hunt and imprisoned in a cage at their camp. Shock was captured as well and thrown in the cage with her. The Erl King offered the captives a choice between becoming slaves, prey, or joining the Hunt, and Treasure, seeing no reason to hold on to her old life, choose to join the Hunt. She swore to obey the Erl King, who then asked her name. Knowing it'd be her name for all eternity, she chose the name Treasure.
She did her best to help Shock survive as a slave of the Wild Hunt and rode with the rest of the Hunters into town. Thinking about how her parents told her she would amount to nothing, Treasure agreed that Connie DeMarco was nothing, but Treasure was something: a Hunter. Hern the Hunter was impressed with her and planned to marry her to his son, Roland, thinking her a worthy lady of the Hunt.
When Buffy Summers attacked the Wild Hunt, Buffy tricked Treasure into falling off her horse, which she stole. Treasure was later attacked by Cordelia Chase and hit in the head with a stone before she would draw her sword. After Hern died and Roland became the new Erl King, Treasure rode by his side. Buffy believed Treasure would soon be the new Queen of the Hunt.[1]
