Dark faerie referred to small goblin-like creatures that lived in the same dark dimension the Wild Hunt originated in. A small army went with the Wild Hunt, accompanying them on their hunts to Earth for murder and sport. They were apparently led by a chieftain. They were also called "wee folk."[1]
Appearance[]
The dark faeries looked like a misshapen creature that vaguely resembled a human with a head, arms, and legs, only its skin was a mottled, graveyard green and gray, their blank eyes glowing red, and their ears were bat-like, long and pointed. They had sharp teeth and their hands ended in curved talons instead of fingers. They were small, about the size of a raccoon, and wore crudely woven clothing.
When dark faerie died, their bodies caved in on themselves to become a dried husk.[1]
Powers and abilities[]
A dark faerie fed only on meat, preferring live prey, which they would attack in a swarm, biting whatever part of them they could and eating them alive. Victims would die from injuries or blood loss, the bodies left partially eaten. They attacked in such large numbers they could even overwhelm centuries' old vampires like Angel or Slayers. Their bites left a wound similar to that of a raccoon. They also had some level of strength as they could bend pipes.
They had rudimentary intelligence, as they would ambush others by dropping down on them from trees. When they got into a feeding frenzy over several dead deer, some left the crowded carcasses to feed on the less-crowded remains of some of the Wild Hunt, recognizing it would be easier. It also appeared they had their own language, as they chattered, cackled, and shrieked at each other. They also obeyed the Erl King and were even willing to leave their prey when he sounded his horn to recall them. Sometimes when confronted with a large amount of freshly killed animals though, they got too caught up in a feeding frenzy to be aware of their surroundings.[1]
The Hunt[]
Many dark faerie accompanied the others of the Wild Hunt during their hunts. They often preceded the rest of the Wild Hunt by several days, causing mayhem in the towns the Wild Hunt would be visiting. They would kill and partially devour people and animals they found. They would even bite through the brake lines on the undercarriage of cars. They committed various acts of serious vandalism - pipes twisted and electric lines cut.
During a Hunt, the dark faerie acted as advanced scouts for the hunters, which were riding not far behind.
