Hey kid. Wanna see a trick?
―Doc[src]

Doc was a demon with knowledge of dark magic[1] and a worshiper of Glorificus.[2]

Biography[]

Helping Dawn[]

Just because the lights are dim doesn't mean the juice is all gone. What can I do for you?
―Doc[src]

Doc's eyes turn black as he shakes Dawn's hand.

When Dawn Summers was looking for a way to bring her mother back to life, Spike took her to Doc in his apartment, as the demon had a reputation of knowing about dark magic, particularly resurrections.[1]

While disturbed by Doc's demeanor, and the fact that she managed to get a glimpse of his short tail, Dawn listened to Doc's instructions regarding the ritual to bring Joyce back from the dead. However, Dawn decided to break the spell before she could discover if she had reanimated her mother as a zombie, like Doc warned.[1]

Helping Glorificus[]

You think only underworld bottom feeders worship the Beast? Her day is coming, boys. And when she returns — then you're gonna see something.
―Doc[src]

Weeks later, Spike and Xander sought Doc in his apartment to obtain information about Glory. Initially polite, Doc tried to distract Spike and Xander as he attempted to destroy a chest that contained information about Glory's plans. After he was discovered, Doc attacked Spike and Xander, revealing both his physical abilities and the fact that he was a worshiper of the Beast. While Doc was distracted fighting Spike, Xander caught him by surprise and impaled him through the chest with a sword, apparently killing him. However, as soon as Spike and Xander left, Doc opened his eyes.[2]

Hours later, as the Scooby Gang fought Glory and her minions to prevent her from bleeding Dawn and causing an apocalypse, Doc appeared atop the tower constructed by the town's "crazies" for Glory's ritual. Dawn begged Doc to save her, but he only waited for the time to begin her bleeding. Spike stood between him and Dawn, but Doc defeated him, stabbing the vampire in the back and throwing him off the tower. Doc proceeded to make shallow cuts on Dawn's stomach, allowing the blood to flow while at the same time keeping the Key alive.[3]

After Buffy Summers reached the top, Doc tried to attack the Slayer, stating: "This should be interesting." However, Buffy merely pushed him off the tower. Buffy rescued Dawn, Doc had nonetheless successfully performed the ritual, and the Slayer sacrificed herself to stop the apocalypse.[3]

Powers and abilities[]

Doesn't a fellow stay dead when you kill 'im?

Doc regains consciousness after being impaled with a sword.

Doc had the appearance of an aged human white male. However, he also had a hidden reptilian tail, eyes that could morph into solid black,[1][2] blue blood,[2] and an extendable chameleon-like tongue.[2][3]

Doc's powers included superhuman strength, speed, agility, and reflexes that matched, and even surpass, those of a vampire's. Doc could speed past Spike and attack him from behind before the vampire could anticipate. Doc then bested Spike by holding him into place with no apparent effort.[3] He was also capable of surviving and regenerating wounds that would be deadly for humans, like surviving impalement.[2]

Doc had the ability to "see" human genetic material just by looking at a hair strand.[1] He could also "smell" the presence of soul in other beings.[3] He seemed to be able to differentiate between vampires and humans, as he knew that Spike was a vampire from the moment he saw him.[1]

Doc also possessed vast knowledge of dark magic and reanimation spells.[1]
