Pabpap is a town in Breath of Fire IV.
Pabpab is a large treehouse in the Northern Islands region, which is surrounded by swamp marshland (potentially liked to the Mud Sea). It is accessed by traveling through the Jungle. The name also refers to the indigenous tribe that live there. They do not seem to be used to visitors and sometimes fire a volley of arrows at outsiders approaching their home.
Members of this tribe have their own language and some of it has been written down and translated by Beyd. The book containing this information can be found in one of the upper levels.
Story[]
Upon entering the area, Ryu and his party are met with a shower of arrows, an attack that is stopped when a creature they helped earlier comes to their defense. This creature turns out to be Poko, one of the Pabpabs and wife of the human Beyd, that comes out to greet them.
In order to advance the plot, the party must heal one of the sick Pabpab, a task that involves traveling to the Nameless Island in the Salt Sea by ship and find the herb that can cure the child's condition, the so-called Mozweed. Upon acquisition, the party returns to Beyd and the Pabpab and heals the child with the plant. As it is uncertain whether the cure was effective, the party spends the night there.
On the next day, the child is healthy and jumps around the room. His brethren are seen jumping on drums. The atmosphere is one of cheerfulness and joy. Beyd thanks the party for their effort and explains how they can reach the flats. Poko finally escorts them to the place of passage and then bids farewell to the party who continue their way to the Western Continent.
