Designs[]

Personality[]

BFDI[]

Match has the personality of a stereotypical teenage girl. She repeats the word "like", and she is friendly to some contestants but mean and exclusive to others. She has an unbreakable bond with Pencil, as she never argues with her. Match even has a special nickname for her, Pence-Pence, and refuses to let anyone else refer to her as such. They seem to have been friends with each other before BFDI started.

The character she dislikes the most is Spongy, as seen whenever she plays "Spongy Cake". She feels he smells bad and is too overweight. For example, in "Barriers and Pitfalls", Spongy weighed down the chairlift needed to progress through the challenge.

BFDIA[]

Match is quite numb to the well-being of others she doesn't consider her friends. In "Get in the Van", she insulted and kicked Book and Ice Cube, the "alternates", out of her alliance. This rude, inconsiderate behaviour can affect her teammates, scolding them on many past occasions. In "Zeeky Boogy Doog", she justifies Tennis Ball's death because he was lazy. She also insults Gelatin, who died to save her life, and in "No More Snow!", she shows no remorse for melting Ice Cube to extinguish her flame.

BFB[]

In this season, Match experiences several mood swings that influence her interactions with others. For instance, in the episode "Getting Teardrop to Talk", she and Pencil demote Bubble to a "bember" after Bubble attempts to stop Lightning from zapping Fanny. However, subsequent to Pencil's elimination in "Lick Your Way to Freedom", Match's demeanor softens, especially towards those she previously considered enemies. In "The Liar Ball You Don't Want", Match compliments Flower's fashion sense, and is even shown playing Spongycake with Spongy two episodes prior in "Fortunate Ben".

However, in "Questions Answered", she makes fun of Bubble's weight and yells at her for getting the answers wrong. Match demotes Bubble again, this time to a "bemb", only to reveal to her in "Get to the Top in 500 Steps" that she was just trying to act more like Pencil. Still, Bubble chastised her for her harsh behaviour and how that kind of leadership only ends up hurting people, indicating that Match may not fully grasp the consequences of her actions.

TPOT[]

Match, despite not competing, continues to appear as an exitor, playing a more significant role in "Out Of The Blue." She grows closer to Stapy and Liy as they collaborate to escape and protect themselves from Four. Match was resolute in her determination to escape, willing to risk everything rather than not try at all, but also exhibits signs of mental strain such as panic attacks. During one, she expresses a strong desire to reunite with her friends, particularly Bubble, suggesting an eagerness on Match's part to undergo personal growth and mend relationships. This wish would eventually be fulfilled in the stinger of "I SAID CAREFUL!!!", where she reunites with Bubble and Ruby in the Pillary Ruins.

Official Character Guide biography[]

Match is the typical spoiled brat, like, for sure! She's a wooden matchstick who never burns out when she's on fire. Match is caring when it comes to her friends, but she might also seem a bit selfish and lazy because of her constant "Break Times". She also complains a lot.

Match's best friend is Pencil, and the two become devastated when either one is eliminated. Match doesn't really like Spongy, and has developed the hand-clapping game Spongy-cake to mock him.

Did You Know?: Match has an irrational fear of handheld gaming devices.

Abilities[]

Strengths[]

  • Fire resistance: Match is immune to fire, as shown in "BFDIA 5b" and "No More Snow!". Her hair however remains flammable like real matches and in fact appears to be the only place that can burn and catch fire on Match's body.

Coverage[]

Appearances[]

Battle for Dream Island[]

Match talking to pencil

Match talking to Pencil about Flower's fear of bugs

In "Take the Plunge: Part 1", she is seen with Pencil talking about Flower being afraid of bugs. They both yell when Ice Cube is about to pop Bubble. During the challenge, Match, Pencil, and Bubble form an alliance. A few moments later, Ice Cube knocks them off.

In "Take the Plunge: Part 2", Match is chosen in Pin's team by Pencil because she is a part of the alliance. When Pin asks her team about choosing Pen, Match agrees. Match later picks Firey, but Pin refuses. Match and Pin start to stare at each other when Firey says that Match made a good choice. When Eraser and Pen choose Blocky, Match seems to be unsatisfied with the decision. When Blocky picks Spongy, Match is angry. When the team is trying to pick a team name, Match screams on the megaphone.

She is angry when Blocky says she's one of their oars. During the challenge, Match tells Blocky to not keep her underwater for 30 seconds. After the boat breaks, Pencil suggests Match swim with her, but Match says she has no energy left. She notices that some contestants are floating on Spongy. During the stinger, she tells everyone they should get back to land.

In "Barriers and Pitfalls", she waits for Pencil so that they can stick together. After about 5 minutes, Match exclaims that Pencil is taking too long. After a while, she complains about Spongy. She realizes Pencil is here and they start to run, while some other contestants fall. Match is shocked when she sees the wall. Later, she throws Tennis Ball over the wall. She falls along with the rest of her alliance when Rocky breaks the tramway line.

In "Are You Smarter Than a Snowball?", Match complains about the cake but survives her first elimination at 1 vote. She plays Spongy Cake with Pencil and she accidentally makes a fire. She complains when Bubble calls her a "guy" and pops her.

In "Sweet Tooth", Match gags while looking at the ice cake. She has an argument with Pin over if they had a large number of votes or not and if they have feelings or not. She makes fun of Bubble during the challenge since she "can't" count to 3 but gets shocked when she finally counts to 3. She realizes she wasted half of the challenge time and decides to buy one of Leafy's cakes with the $20 she has. She also gives Woody $5. She gets 15 points on her strawberry cake.

Match and needy

Match defending herself from being slapped by Needle

In "Bridge Crossing", Match shows her disgust for needles but still talks to Needle with her correct name, where as Pencil who liked "Needies" gets slapped by her.. After being safe with 1 vote, she thanks the Announcer when she did not get called a "piece". In the challenge, she jumps off a cliff to follow her alliance after Bubble falls off from the breaking bridge.

In "Power of Three", Match is once again safe with only 1 vote. Match then gets angry at the Announcer when he indirectly calls Match a piece. In the challenge, Match is sorted into the same team as Bubble and Pencil, which she called a miracle. She calls Snowball a "ragger" when he pushes her trio the balance beam. She continues to the next island by swimming. At the next island, however, Match unknowingly locks Pencil in a vault, causing her and Bubble to turn around and retrieve her. Match's trio safely finishes in third.

Eraser, Match and Bubble in Puzzling Mysteries

From left to right, Eraser, Match and Bubble doing the puzzle in episode 7.

In "Puzzling Mysteries", Match and Pencil have a hard time finishing the jigsaw puzzle since the pieces are upside down and instead talk about the time when Eraser stepped on a nail in BFDI 1B. Her team loses the contest and is still trapped in the room by night.

In "Cycle of Life", Match and Pencil talk about their votes so far, Match mentioning that she got votes in four episodes in a row. In the relay race, Match is carried by Pencil, and she carries Bubble next. She accidentally pops Bubble and has to wait for her to get back. Her team loses the contest due to Bubble getting popped before she could finish.

In "Insectophobe's Nightmare", Match and Pencil notice Ice Cube falling from a cliff before getting knocked down themselves when she gets recovered. Match and her team finally win a challenge by being first in the six-legged race.

In "Crybaby!", she votes for Teardrop to stay in the game and looks disappointed when Snowball ends up joining their team. During the crying contest, she points out that Eraser and Snowball aren't even trying to cry. Her team ties in the first two challenges but wins in the hand stand tiebreaker against Another Name, but Eraser gets the Win Token due to everyone else slipping on Rocky's vomit.

In "Lofty", she picks Rocky to join their team because she doesn't like Golf Ball's dimples. She doesn't last long in the challenge due to Leafy popping her balloon.

In "A Leg Up in the Race", Match places 6th in the ladder challenge and is safe from elimination after the points are established.

In "Don't Lose Your Marbles", Match and her alliance talk about how great it is for them all to be in the final 11. During the challenge, she accidentally turns in a maroon ball and gets a 10 point penalty. Match manages to find a red ball and gets 10 points for being the 5th to turn one in. She's relieved that she made it out of the danger zone, but this doesn't last long after Bubble turns in her ball. Match is up for elimination by the end of the episode.

Match TLC

Match being eliminated from the LPTD

In "Half a Loaf Is Better Than None", she is first seen saving Firey from falling off a cliff and calls out to Pencil to save her before everyone ends up falling. She got eliminated with 66 votes, devastating Pencil. Match tells her to keep going to win for the both of them. Match was also the first one to be teleported to the Tiny Loser Chamber via the Laser Powered Teleportation Devices instead of being thrown to the TLC manually. In the bread loaf contest, Match comes in 5th and doesn't rejoin.

In "Reveal Novum", she and the other eliminated contestants try to escape the TLC by pushing it sideways. They end up falling down a slope and into a lake. Match says that this is the end, but they are saved by the sun rising before the TLC fills with water.

In "Gardening Hero", she dyes her "hair", (actually her match tip she calls hair), blue to try to get the viewers to vote for her, but also was a recommended character named Blue Match.

In "The Glistening", she votes for Ice Cube to get eliminated. She failed to rejoin at 35 votes and got sent to the TLC, but not before wondering if her blue dye would give her 20 bazillion bonus votes.

In "Insectophobe's Nightmare 2", it is shown that she dyes her "hair" back to red. Her, along with the rest of the eliminated contestants in the Tiny Loser Chamber, were eaten by Announcer's bugs.

In "Return of the Hang Glider", she, along with the other eliminated contestants, are set free from the TLC. She votes Bubble to win, and is the only one to do so, since Pencil changed her mind as she would get slapped by all other supporters of Leafy. After Firey wins Battle for Dream Island, Match, along with Pencil and Bubble, tell Firey he has to let them in, and Firey agrees. Later, after Dream Island is sold because of "budget slices", Match, Snowball, Tennis Ball, and Woody are abducted by a UFO. Match turns off the power of the UFO, causing it to fall, and everyone gets scared. Match tried to make the UFO fly again, but then realizes it's a one-way switch. The UFO then crushes Flower, after Woody dies of a heart attack due to his fear of the colour grey. Match then greets everybody, and it is revealed that she is still alive. She ends the season by saying the last word, "Yeah" in a conversation with Pencil, which is also the first spoken word of the entire season.

Battle for Dream Island Again[]

Match in BFDIA 1

In "Yeah, Who? I Wanna Know", Match gets enough votes to compete in the season. Her friend Pencil is quick to start a conflict with Donut. When Puffball suggests putting one original contestant on the newbie team to even the teams out, Donut picks Match in spite of Pencil. Firey discovers that contestants can switch teams, so Match switches back. When the contestants share their screens, Match says she likes the portrait screen just like Pencil, but as the contestants' favourite screens are shown, Match's features a screen of Puffball. Match's team wins the challenge due to their larger team of 19 members from 3 members of the opposite team at the tug-of-war.

In "Get Digging", Match is seen criticizing Ice Cube for making a weird face at the beginning and calls her a hideous menace, and kicks her out of the alliance. Tennis Ball says their team needs a large bowl for the stew. Match asks if her bowl is big enough, but Nickel has an even larger one. Both of them get rejected by Golf Ball. Later, Match and Pencil ask Ruby if she wants to join their alliance due to Bubble being non-existent at the moment, and Ice Cube making an ugly face, and she accepts. They add some ingredients to their Yoylestew, which some are inedible and deadly. Her team lost due to poor quality and ingredients as said by TV.

In "Insectophobe's Nightmare 3", Match and her alliance are all safe from elimination, after being worried. During the challenge, Match and her alliance excuse themselves from the contest. Ruby later admits she was acting weird about reviving Bubble because she thought she'd be expelled from the Alliance. Match reassures that all 4 of them could be one alliance together. After some discussing, Match and Pencil convince Bubble to let Ruby join. After Bubble gets popped, she tries to get Tennis Ball to build a recovery center for her and everyone else who died, but Tennis Ball said he couldn't possibly just build one.

Match in BFDIA 4

In "Zeeky Boogy Doog", Match impresses Ruby by saving Firey's life, but doesn't do the same for Tennis Ball as he deserved it for being lazy. Later, she is shocked and jealous when Teardrop got over 500 likes and wishes she had gotten this amount of likes. Gelatin shoves Match out of the way to avoid being crushed by a falling HPRC, killing himself in the process. Match then claims that Gelatin is awful at life-saving. She and Pencil then use the HPRC to recover Bubble, who pops immediately and is recovered again. When Team No-Name enters Golf Ball's Underground Factory, Match complains about Golf Ball killing Pencil in an incinerator. Golf Ball retaliates, so Match stops arguing. Match ends up getting killed in Bomby's explosion and they lose the contest due to their Dream Island getting destroyed.

In "Get in the Van", Match gets eliminated at 201 likes and 426 dislikes, but Pencil uses ropes to fling her back to the Cake at Stake area. She and the rest of her alliance leave Team No-Name to form FreeSmart. She manages to avoid elimination by pretending to be a tree in front of Firey Speaker Box. During the challenge, Evil Leafy swallows the FreeSmart Van.

In BFDIA 5b, Match is the 2nd playable character. She has her tallness as a disadvantage over the game.

In "No More Snow!", Match finally escapes from Evil Leafy, but she and Ice Cube are then thrown off in an explosion. She returns later in the episode, and she says the explosion wasn't enough to kill her, but instead set on fire. Nickel suggests that the fire gets put out since they were in a forest, and she melts Ice Cube to do so.

Match hit Nickel

Match kicking Nickel out of their break time, telling him to get back to work

In "It's a Monster", Match takes a long break from cranking the HPHPRCC and invites her alliance members to join her. Nickel attempts to join in but she smacks him and has him get back to cranking. After a day, her break time ends and she gets back to cranking, while berating Nickel for his complaining. She gets another break time, almost immediately and never gets back to cranking afterwards.

Sometime later, the other still alive contestants finish cranking the HPHPRCC. Yellow Face tries to recover Spongy, but Match stops him and tells him to prioritize. She then recovers Pencil. After they're team is revived, they continue the challenge inside the brand new FreeSmart SuperVan. When the FreeSmart Supervan submerges underwater, she revives members of her team while drowning.

In "The Long-lost Yoyle City", Match and her team reach the Mountain and get out to walk the rest of the way. Match yells at Ruby for being clumsy and dropping the HPRC in a pile of glue. When they reach the summit of Yoyle Mountain, Match argues with Firey Speaker Box after he says her team "unfortunately" won. Firey Speaker Box notices that Match is out of the TLC while she should be eliminated, so she is flung back to the TLC.

In "Intruder Alert", Match is briefly shown in the TLC. She also stretches her arm out of the TLC to slap Firey Speaker Box for calling Pencil "Pence-Pence".

In "Well, Look Who It Is!", Match hears Pencil's laugh from afar and asks if anyone else heard it. Snowball tells her to chill out, dismissing it as a hallucination. Match insists that she heard Pencil's voice, but Snowball insults her by saying her hair dye smells. Frustrated, Match turns to Donut and asks him to get Snowball out of her face. Donut reminds Snowball that he, Match, Teardrop, Puffball and Dora actually competed in BFDIA, while the rest of them didn't. Gaty then suggests drawing a line between the BFDIA contestants and the non-contestants. Match wholeheartedly agrees with the idea.

Later, Match notices a small tube appear, indicating dinner time. Moments later, bread starts falling out of the tube, and everyone begins to eat. As they're eating, Donut claims he hears a voice from far away. Match eagerly asks if the voice sounded like Pencil's and suggests they should go find her. However, Donut confirms that it wasn't Pencil's, much to Match's dismay.

Subsequently, they notice Coiny struggling to pull a glitching Pin out of a hole, and agree to leave immediately. The LOL is now flying in the sky, and they feel relieved to have escaped the encounter. Later, Dora's stomach rumbles again, and Match calls it gross. Suddenly, Pen notices a laser heading in their direction. They attempt to dodge it but are hit anyway, causing most of their assets to change significantly on impact.

Match in BFDIA 13

Match and Puffball requesting their islands

Afterwards, Dora announces she's still hungry and orders takeout. She contacts a company called "Blazing Fast Delivery of Islands", much to Match's excitement. After Dora tells them her order, Match chimes in, requesting an island with additional matchstick factories. She holds the phone towards Puffball, who asks for an island including rainbows, sparkles, and puffy clouds.

Donut snatches the phone away from Match, and tells them to stop submitting weird requests before proceeding to order an island with lots of blood. Finally, Teardrop orders a water-based island. When Barf Bag asks if she can add to the order, the room goes silent for a moment, before Match sarcastically comments that she couldn't hear her because Barf Bag was too far away. Barf Bag asks her to just hand the phone over, but Match quickly cuts off the call, saying it was too late.

As the credits play, the LOL is still flying, followed by a van carrying a delivery of all the islands they ordered. Snowball complains that he's tired of cranking, and Bracelety asks if they can go down since Pin is no longer there. Match tells her no, adding that the only place they'll be going is to see her friend Pencil. Clock says he doesn't want to do that and inquires about the islands. Match replies that she doesn't listen to people who live on the opposite side of the line. Donut informs her that their islands have arrived, and Match tells him she doesn't listen to people who live on her own side of the line either.

In "PointyPointyPointy ♫", Match and Lollipop are pushed aside by Barf Bag as she rushes to the window. When it’s revealed that Golf Ball is eliminated, Match shoves Barf Bag away, commenting that her elimination will be satisfying. Golf Ball is then flung to the Weak Trembling Fortress. Afterward, Match takes charge and instructs the contestants to spin the wheel to determine the next contest. Ruby and Book are excited to see Match again, but Barf Bag pushes her aside, reminding her that she is the host, not Match. Match insists that she should host for FreeSmart and also so she can reunite with Pencil. The two argue over who should host until Coiny suggests that everyone in the LOL host together, an idea they all agree on.

Later, during the contest, Pin and Coiny are the first to arrive at Match's island. Coiny, curious about the place, asks what it is, and Match proudly informs him that it's her matchstick factory, where they produce matchsticks just like her. Coiny, surprised, asks if that's really true, and Match confirms it, which Pin finds gross. Match takes offense to Pin's reaction, but before the situation escalates, her friends arrive, making Match excited and happy to see them.

Coiny asks what the challenge is, and Match instructs them to take a nightcap before explaining the task: the duos must build a raft to ride up the volcano, which will help them ascend to the next island. Match, thrilled to see Pencil, expresses how much they have to catch up on. However, Pencil seems oddly reluctant to interact and tells Match that she's busy before walking away.

As the FreeSmart teams observe Pin and Coiny struggling to construct their raft, Bubble nervously asks Match if they have to do the same. Since they are Match's best friends, she decides to share a secret with them: there is a hidden raft located near the shipwreck on Teardrop's island, which they can use to reach the final island. Armed with the newfound information about the secret raft, the group leave Match's island in search of it.

Match in BFDIA 14

Meanwhile, Pin, unimpressed with her surroundings, insults the island, calling it rancid. This deeply upsets Match, who takes the comment personally. Pin insults Match's red hair, calling it ugly. Match, not one to back down, fires back by saying at least she isn’t a pinhead. Coiny notices that Match's friends are jumping off a cliff and quickly informs her. However, Match remains unbothered, and replies that she's well aware.

Later, the FreeSmart teams return triumphantly with the raft, and Match congratulates them on their successful retrieval. Curious about their standing, Needle asks what rank they are in, only to be bluntly informed by Match that they are in dead last, with no one else behind them. This news frustrates Pencil, while Bubble, Book, and Ruby briefly tear up. Ruby, however, quickly reminds everyone that despite their rank, they now have the raft they need to reach the final island. Pencil places the raft on the lava, and the group of five climb inside. The volcano erupts, sending the raft flying towards the final island.

In "Spore Day", Match can be shown in the LOL. However, she does not have lines.

In "Respect to the Wicked", Match does not get lines due to Balloony taping her mouth shut.

IDFB[]

Match in IDFB 1

Match in the TLC/LOL.

In "Welcome Back", Book asks Pencil if they should try to get Match out of the TLC. She is briefly shown sitting sadly inside the TLC with everyone else. Oddly, Pencil is indifferent to the idea, stating she was a bit too "needy". Match is later given a chance to leave the TLC.

Battle for BFDI[]

In "Getting Teardrop to Talk", Match is seen with her alliance. After Bubble gets popped twice, they try to find who's popping her. Later, she and Pencil cheer over Lightning zapping Spongy. Match then orders Lightning to electrocute Flower, but Bubble decides to tell Lightning to do whatever he wants, leading to her being demoted by Pencil, from a member to a bember. She becomes a part of team iance. She devises a strategy to jump to the basket, offering suggestions to her teammates on how to improve their jumps, however she avoids interacting with Flower, as she considers her an enemy. Despite her efforts, these actions do not contribute effectively to the challenge, resulting in her team being the first to face elimination.

Match in BFB 2

In "Lick Your Way to Freedom", Match congratulates Ruby and Bubble for getting a low number of votes and is safe with 1,362 votes. After Pencil gets eliminated, she asks Bubble what they should do with Pencil gone. Bubble remembers that they have alternates, but Match reminds her that the alternates in question are on a different team now and are also dead. Later, after her team wins by licking Ice Cube free from a jawbreaker, she realizes that Ice Cube is an alternate to her alliance. She and Bubble beg for her to join, but Ice Cube instead goes back to team Bleh.

In "Today's Very Special Episode", Match and Ruby are very briefly showing their Four makeover to Four and X.

In "Four Goes Too Far", Match has a staring contest with Bubble and looks toward Pen while they have The Twinkle of Contagion.

In "The Liar Ball You Don't Want", Match, after spotting Fries sporting a jawbreaker mask, is seen saying Flower's eye for fashion has gotten so good lately.

You are hereby demoted to merely a bemb!

Match yelling at Bubble for not knowing the answers to several questions

In "Questions Answered", the pattern of Match bullying Bubble continues. She first says Bubble is "swollen" lately after hearing Fries and Gelatin say the word. When Bubble got the answer to the second question wrong, Match demoted Bubble from a Bember, to a Bemb, stating that "she wasn't even worthy of Bembership status". This makes Bubble scream shockingly. Later, after her team unfairly loses due to Stapy's cheating, Match shows her recorded evidence about Free Food sabotage to Donut and made her team place 7th. Fanny calls Match a hypocrite during the episode's stinger because she didn't know the answers herself, yet got mad at Bubble.

In "Enter the Exit", Match tries to talk to Bubble, but she refuses before getting popped by of a cake that was thrown a earlier by X. She asks where X is, with the intention of recovering her, but ends up getting into an arguement with Fanny who tells her to stop pretending to care about Bubble. Cloudy informs her that X can't recover people, so Match turns to Donut, who says he tried to recover Naily but failed. As everyone is attempting to bring Four back, Match is used by Blocky to replicate "4". Eventually Four comes back and recovers Bubble. Match tries to greet her but she ignores her again. Later, when Foldy asks where Stapy is, Eraser shows her the footage of Match showing the footage of Stapy cheating to Donut, causing Foldy to glare at [Match].

In "Get to the Top in 500 Steps", Match expresses frustration over Flower's pace in the contest, adding that Pencil would've never let this happen. Bubble criticizes Match for her past actions, and Match is relieved that she is finally talking to her again. She apologizes for lying about knowing the quiz answers, and for demoting Bubble to a lesser role (a bemb) to assert herself as team leader. Bubble points out how this hurt others, including herself, and Match apologizes sincerely. Even though Bubble doesn't forgive her right away, Match stays calm and doesn't get upset.

Match gets exited

Match being eliminated and sent to the EXIT before Bubble has a chance to talk to her

In "What Do You Think of Roleplay?", Match, along with the rest of iance, attend Cake at Stake. She is eliminated with 12,758 votes. She says that she should have seen her elimination coming before getting sucked into the EXIT before Bubble can talk to her. Bubble feels guilty, believing it's her fault Match is eliminated.

In "The Four is Lava", Match appears briefly in Ice Cube's happy thought, where she, along with Pencil, Leafy and Book, are engulfed in flames.

In "The Escape from Four", Match, along with the rest of the eliminated contestants, is surprised when Loser starts reading Donut's Diary out loud. When Pencil grabs a stethoscope to listen to the "celebrity's juiciest secrets", Match joins her and grabs one of the parts of the stethoscope, thinking Loser was reading his own diary. Shocked by what she heard, she asks Pencil when Loser combined with Four, which Pencil replies she doesn't know.

Later, Match seen with the others attempting to escape. She tells Stapy he's too fat to climb, so Pencil has Loser replace him. Bracelety starts breathing rapidly over getting to see Ice Cube, so Match tells her not to hyperventilate and that she needs to take a chill pill. However, she starts hyperventilating to when Bracelety says she could check out Flower's new fashion line, "Super-Slip Shoes So Blah", if she escaped. When Liy asked Match and Pencil to climb the tower to boost Loser up, she complains about not having her break time. However, when she heard that they would be demoted to "Bember", she follows Liy's orders. She is disgusted when Liy suggests climbing through Spongy, and bails along with Pencil.

Battle for BFB[]

In "SOS (Save Our Show)", a flashback of a scene never seen before shows Match and Pencil talking to Eraser while the Announcer watches from the side.

Match in BFB 30

In "Chapter Complete", Match is first seen with Stapy as he demonstrates his ability to bend one of his staples into the shape of a four. Match is grossed out and asks what it's supposed to be, to which Stapy says it's his favorite host. Match then corrects him, saying it's "our" favorite host and happily points out that Four is there. A voice is suddenly heard asking when Four will come back, and Match tells Four to explain what's going on.

Later, when Four asks who doesn't like him, Match says that he should know the answer to that and laughs mockingly. She then mocks Four for not only having real people who hate him, but also the friends in his imagination who feel the same. She asks why the people on the surface won't leave him alone if they truly hate him and prefer the Announcer and Four says that's a very good question. Match then reminds him that she's a figment of his imagination, showing her disgust over how he just complimented himself for his own idea. Four then snaps Match and the other imaginary contestants out of existence.

Battle for Dream Island: The Power of Two[]

In "You Know Those Buttons Don't Do Anything, Right?", Match appears briefly in the stinger, watching Liy and Stapy with the other EXITors.

In "The Seven Wonders of Goiky", Match and the other EXITors are shown finally escaping through the door Liy unlocked. After walking down a hallway for a while, they discover what appears to be a dimension themed entirely around Four.

Match in TPOT 7

"I think if we're gonna like, go, we should like, go!"

In "Outbreak At Stake", the EXITors decide to split up in groups of three in order to find a way to escape. Pencil puts Match with Stapy and Liy to search the waterfall, with Match being upset that she isn't in Pencil's group.

In "Out Of The Blue", Match, Stapy and Liy are looking at the fourtress from a distance. Liy considers it could be their way out, prompting Match to ask how they'll reach it. Stapy proposes using the inverted waterfall, but they quickly realize they can't breathe underwater. Liy, believing Match can hold her breath, throws her into the waterfall. Match manages to stay under for a few moments before resurfacing to catch her breath. Annoyed, Match tells Liy to stop, but Liy disregards her protests and tries again. Match returns, frustrated, and Stapy wishes she could breathe underwater. Liy asks if Match wants to try again, but she firmly refuses.

A quick montage shows the exitors, including Match, Stapy, and Liy, trying to escape. The trio attempt to climb the waterfall but to no avail. Afterwards, Match complains about the slow progress, even comparing it unfavorably to the TLC. Stapy and Liy agree, but Match hushes them and suggests they proceed together. She instructs them to hold their breath and support each other if anyone struggles to breathe. This method continues until they finally reach the top, although Stapy accidentally causes them all to fall due to his staples hurting Match's leg. Eventually, they reach the fourtress, where Stapy attempts a group hug but accidentally kicks Match off the edge. He apologizes before retrieving her. Finally back at the fourtress, Match scolds Stapy for his carelessness. Stapy hesitates to enter, concerned about there potentially being traps, but Match dismisses his worries, insisting that such things only happen in movies before proceeding inside.

Match, Liy and Stapy in TPOT 11

"Like, shh. That stuff's just in the movies. Now mush!"

Inside the fourtress, they come across a pile of armor and decide to use it for protection in case Four returns. As they move forward, they unexpectedly fall through a hidden hole concealed by a rug. In the pit, Match is unsure of their next move. Stapy quickly attaches Liy to the wall and activates her switch to turn on the lights, earning praise from Match who calls him a hero. Liy spots a set of keys on a nearby pillar, and Match retrieves them, unaware that it triggers a trap. The walls to start closing in on them and she feels bad.

Later, Match is sleeping whilst the others struggle to push the walls back. They plead with her to help, but she refuses, claiming it's her break time. Stapy tears her sleeping mask in half to wake her up and demands her assistance, infuriating Match. She retaliates by picking Stapy up and using him to fire staples at both ends of the walls.

Using the staples as a makeshift ladder, Match and Liy climb up and escape, however Stapy is still trapped. Match bids him "rest in peace," adding that he would have loved escaping the exit, and Stapy urges them to help him up. Match and Liy convince him to push against the walls to free himself. He does so and Match compliments Stapy on his efforts, encouraging him to come up. However, Stapy notices a previously unseen secret door in the wall with a lock on it. They jump down, and Match uses the keys she found earlier to unlock the door, revealing a hidden passage.

Match trying on armour in TPOT 11

Match trying on the armour

She opens the door to reveal a series of locked cells. Match realizes the keys she’s holding unlock each cell and uses them to open one, finding armor inside. She suggests searching all the cells for items to use in their stack. A montage shows the trio trying on different sets of armor. After trying them all, Match declares it was fun, believing they’ve opened all the cells. However, Liy points out one more cell, which they open to find it empty.

After collecting their stash, the trio are confronted by Four, with Match taunting him as an ugly number. Four orders them back to algebra, but they equip themselves with the armor they found earlier. They engage in a fight, with Liy using Match as a sword to strike Four. Dodging Four’s blasts, they manage to kick him out of the castle. He leaves and they return back to their original plan of bringing the stash to Four's mouth.

In the hallway, Match catches sight of Pencil making her way to the EXIT classroom, and hurries over to greet her with a joyful hug. Liy quickly redirects their focus back to rebuilding the stack, but upon completion they realize it’s not tall enough. This causes Match to have a panic attack, overwhelmed and expresses a longing to see her friends again. However, Bracelety attaches Roboty’s plunger to the stack, boosting them through Four’s mouth just in time. They escape, and just as Four is about to send them back, Two intervenes, hiring them as cooks instead. Match has another panic attack, feeling trapped, while Stapy tries to calm her down. They see TPOT happening outside, and they want to join, but Match insists that they focus on escaping the kitchen first. They attempt to break the windows and the episode ends on a cliff-hanger.

Match's audition

In "What's Up Bell's String?", Match is seen sleeping while the other EXITors persist in their attempts to escape from the hotel, her eyes hidden behind a sleeping mask. At the end of the episode, a piano shatters through the window, freeing all the exitors from their confinement. Two observes this, suggesting he could fix the window and return them to the kitchen, but Match vehemently opposes the idea. She argues they've been trapped for years, referring to the kitchen as a "prison." When 8-Ball requests if one of them could join TPOT, Two reluctantly consents, granting Match, along with the other EXITors, an opportunity to debut.

In Match's audition, her hair is now dyed rainbow. She appeals to the voters by highlighting her personal transformation, emphasizing the heightened stakes now that she has changed her appearance.

In "Category One", Match falls short of joining TPOT, receiving only 4,888 votes. She tries to convince Four that her rainbow hair should have earned her a billion bonus votes. However, her hair is suddenly struck by lightning and catches fire. In response, Four disconnects the rope from the log, sending Match, 8-Ball and Roboty hurtling away.

In "I SAID CAREFUL!!!", Match wakes up in the pillary ruins, disoriented. As she explores, she eventually runs into her old friends, Bubble and Ruby, happily jumping in puddles.

Trivia[]

Comparisons[]

  • Match is the first character to call Pencil "Pence-Pence". The second was the Announcer, the third was Ruby and Firey Speaker Box was the fourth.
  • Match is one of two contestants to be confirmed to have 'hair'. The other is Dora.

Competition[]

BFDI[]

  • Match, Flower, Woody, Spongy, Blocky, Golf Ball, and David are the only BFDI contestants who have never been safe with the least votes.
    • Taking votes to stay into account, that leaves Match, Flower, Spongy, Blocky, and David as the only ones to never be the first safe in any Cake at Stake ever.
  • Coincidentally, Match ranked 14th in BFDI and was eliminated in the 14th episode.
  • Match was the first contestant to be eliminated by the Laser Powered Teleportation Device.
  • Match is the only contestant who got eliminated and then had a chance of returning in the same episode.
  • BFDI is the only season that Match competes in where she managed to survive more than one Cake at Stake.

BFDIA[]

  • Match came in 12th place out of the original contestants in Season 2 voting.
  • Match was the first to switch teams in Battle for Dream Island Again after the rule that team switching is free was declared.
    • At the same time, she'd go on to be one of the four contestants to never officially switch after the teams were established for the first challenge, along with Dora, Donut, and Puffball.
  • Match is one of the few contestants who have received more dislikes than likes multiple times. The others are Golf Ball, Fries, and Yellow Face.
    • Match is the only one who never got more likes than dislikes once.
  • Match is the first eliminated contestant in BFDIA who wasn't voted off at their first Cake at Stake of the season.
  • While Dora has the least likes out of any BFDIA contestant, Match has the least likes out of the BFDI contestants, at only 344.
  • In BFDIA, Match is the lowest-ranking contestant member of the Squishy Cherries, merged BFDI contestant, character voiced by Cary Huang, and member of Pencil's alliance.
  • Match is one of the only two contestants to actually resist being sent into the TLC for some time: In her case, she lasted over 71 days. Flower, the other one, resisted a few seconds, trying to mirror every laser incoming at her, failing at the fourth.
    • David and Roboty also avoided elimination, but they both did so in BFB.

BFB[]

  • In both BFDI and BFDIA, Match is the lowest-ranking member of her alliance. However, this changes in BFB, when Pencil is eliminated in "Lick Your Way to Freedom".
    • However, if one were to retroactively count Needle in BFDI, than BFDIA is the only season where Match is the lowest ranking alliance member.
  • Match is the only contestant who consistently attempts to escape/avoid the eliminated area in every single season she's competed in.
  • Had IDFB continued, Match would have been the first one released from the TLC/LOL.
  • Because Leafy rejoined, Match is the second original contestant to be eliminated in BFB, not counting David as he was brought in as a recommended character later in the show.
  • Match was in the bottom two with Rocky, Golf Ball, and Snowball in her eliminations, all of whom coincidentally made up one of the teams in "Power of Three".
  • Match is the first contestant to be eliminated in three different seasons, getting eliminated in "Half a Loaf Is Better Than None", "Get in the Van", and "What Do You Think of Roleplay?".
  • Match and Pencil are the only original BFDI contestants in the EXIT.
  • Out of the original 20 contestants, Match:
    • Is the only one who has never officially competed on multiple teams in one season.
    • Is tied with Blocky for surviving the least eliminations, at only 6.
    • Is the only one with no votes to stay (due to Pencil's debut in TPOT).
    • Has gone the longest without competing again.
    • Has competed in the fewest episodes at only 28 (discounting elimination episodes).
    • Has the least total votes combined.
