"A Sailor Went to Sea" is a traditional children's nursery rhyme, clapping game and jumprope rhyme. It was initially called 'My Father Went to Sea', before becoming more widely known as 'A Sailor Went to Sea'. It is typically sung to the tune of The Sailor's Hornpipe. The song first appeared in the Barney franchise in A Day At The Beach.
Lyrics[]
- A sailor went to sea, sea, sea
- To see what he could see, see, see,
- But all that he could see, see, see,
- Was the bottom of the deep blue sea, sea, sea.
- A sailor went to sea, sea, sea
- To see what she could see, see, see,
- But all that she could see, see, see,
- Was the bottom of the deep blue sea, sea, sea.
- A sailor went to sea, sea, sea
- To see what she could see, see, see,
- But all that she could see, see, see,
- Was the bottom of the deep blue sea, sea, sea.
