Lacedon

A Lacedon is an aquatic variant of a ghoul found only in rivers, lakes or ocean environments.

Gameplay[]

The creature will shamble toward any detected creature in its range of vision, and try and engage in melee touch attacks. That's all it can really do.

A lacedon's touch attack deals 1d6 piercing damage and +7 with Strength bonus, with a range of one foot and speed of three.^[3]

Additionally, two saves vs. death must be made to negate its other effects:

• Disease that inflicts 1 HP Poison damage per second (6/round) for 60 seconds unless cured (bypasses magic resistance).
• Paralysis for up to 30 seconds unless cured if the target is a dwarf, gnome, half-elf, halfling or human (MR is not bypassed).

There is a version found in the Underwater City that is summoned by script if Prince Villynaty is attacked by the party, along with the Anguiliian creatures. If this does not occur, then the Lacedon (sahlace.cre) will never appear. It is identical to the ordinary type, except it is gender is "summoned".

  This icon indicates content from the original Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn campaign. game, the exclusive RING95.ITM ^[4] grants lacedons immunity to the Hold Person (priest) spell, but not to the Hold Person (wizard) spell. Instead it protects them from Lightning Bolts. This is most likely a typo: Hold Person (Wizard) has the spell code SpWi306, while Lightning Bolt uses SpWi308.
