Finally, only three years or so after it was announced, there is some actual new information on the Cheburashka anime adaption of the Russian animated series which enjoys http://www.ghibli-museum.jp/cheb/. It's going to air this autumn and is being produced by upcoming studio Go Hands.

Truthfully the new season looks bad. There is hardly anything of interest, just looking at the covers reveals that pretty much every show has a bunch of generic girls displayed on their cover, which is a good hint for the low level and otaku appeal of said show. But now with this announcement, there is at least one show to look forward to. It's just left to hope the show will, first, stay free from some moefication or similar attempts and be in the vein of the original and second, be on a level that some of the good episodes of GoHands' Princess Lover porn game adaption displayed and not on the level of the worse bunch. The studio has certainly staff members who are known for their skills and their love towards animation, but that and the actual production are just most often a completely different story.

The director of the anime will be Kudou Susumu, who hasn't exactly a good line-up so far. On the other hand the character design is done by Kishida Takahiro, who was responsible for past Satelight series like Noein or Arjuna, and other titles like Koi Kaze and Lain, so that should be a good sign for an interesting new rendering of the known characters.

Blog? Oh well, meh, let's try some "blogging". I'm currently kinda trying to finish Canaan 5, got stuck several times at minute 1. And also, wait, let me look up the title... right, Yoku Wakaru Gendai Mahou, can't finish episode "00", so my brilliant idea was to look up the calendar to see whether there's actually something fun this month. And that's right where my depression ... damn, have to leave ...

Ok, back again. I hate alcohol, drunks and playing taxi driver... Where was I again... Right, depression. My depression starts when I see Summer Wars on top of this month's calendar. In case that doesn't tell you a lot. Summer Wars is the new film of director Hosoda Mamoru, most known for Toki o Kakeru Shoujo, One Piece Movie 6 - Omatsuri Danshaku to Himitsu no Shima and Digimon Boku no War Game. And this new film shapes to be even a notch above all three of them combined. The film looks really like a combination of Our War Game and TokiKake. Once again famously featuring the VR sequences from the Digimon film, the whole thing with the time, which was also a major point in both films, Sadamoto Yoshiyuki's designs. The usual flat style. I feel like watching Our War Game and TokiKake now, at the same time of course, what else am I left with.

August all in all looks simply sweet. There is Koike Takeshi (Trava First Planet) with Red Line, Katabuchi Sunao (Arete Hime) with Mai Mai Shinko to Sennen no Mahou, a coming of age film which seems to have very nice character design, Nishizawa Akio with 8-gatsu no Symphony: Shibuya 2002-2003, a film about a singer/songwriter and Cencoroll an independent production which has a very promising promotion out for a longer time, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjfyrZjm-cs.

And you know the bad catch? Unless you are living in Japan you won't be able to see those films for many months, until they actually get a DVD release date. So, for now I'm stuck here and have to finish Yoku Wakaru Gendai Mahou and some other of this season's "gems" like GA: Geijutsuka Art Design Class. Depression ON.
