~ The Devil |
The Devil, commonly referred to as Satan or Baphomet, Asmodeus, Diablo is a reoccurring antagonist from American Dad!. He is the ruler of all Demons and of the underworld. Throughout the series, he has either been indirectly referenced or has attempted to collect the Smith Family's souls through deal-making.
In season 9, he is voided by Stanley Tucci.
In seasons 12 and 19, he is voiced by Thomas Lennon, who also played, Karl Wolfschtagg in Balls of Fury and Pinter in Planet Sheen.
Appearance[]
Throughout the series, the Devil's appearance has been different. Some consistencies in his design are his red skin, his giant horns on top of his face, and his muscular body. When disguised as Lorenzo, he appeared to be a muscular hispanic man with long brown hair and a brown goatee. Beginning in season 12, his legs would be that of goat hooves and he would be the size of a building. He also carried around a golden trident and had some yellow spikes along with dots above his head. This design would be similar to his season 19 appearance, except he would become normal sized and he would lose his yellow features. His horns would also become orange. In seasons 7 & 19, his eyes were yellow with black irises, while in season 12 they were black with yellow irises.
Personality[]
Satan in the American Dad series is very different from that of his biblical depiction. He is much less serious and is instead laid back, having casual conversations with the characters. Throughout the series, his main purpose when he physically appeared was to make deals with the main characters, and in exchange he would obtain their souls. In season 19, he was kind enough to show Francine and Snot's mom where their sons were. When making deals, he typically talked to the characters in a flamboyant and sometimes childish-like fashion.
Biography[]
Dope & Faith[]
Satan was first referenced after Stan's formerly atheistic best friend died after committing suicide. He awoke in the hospital and told Stan that he met with Satan who agreed to let him live on Earth as long as he spread the word of Satanism. He was also given a satanic guitar to carry around with him.
Season's Beatings[]
Satan was seen for the first time in a photo with his son Nemo and his wife, who was a Jackal.
American Fung[]
Satan was credited as being the reason for Fung Wah's wealth, but the calls he made to Satan were not returned.
Permanent Record Wrecker[]
Satan next appeared in the form of a guitar teacher on DVD. After Roger became too frustrated with learning how to play, Lorenzo's eyes turned red and he came out of the TV. He then introduced himself and told Roger that he could instantly become a master of the guitar if he sold his soul. Roger agreed, and ended up winning a competition that he needed the lessons for. When his rival begged Roger to let him keep playing there, Roger agreed but only if the man covered the cost of his lessons. After shaking on it, he was engulfed in flames and pulled into the underworld.
The Life and Times of Stan Smith[]
After Stan and Francine died, Stan flew down to the underworld and met Satan, who was a giant and sitting atop of a throne. He told Stan to leave because he was sick of tourists, but instead Stan flew up to him and struck a deal. In exchange for his soul, he wanted the Devil to allow him and Francine go back to living. Satan thought this was stupid but still agreed to the deal. He then told Stan to insult Rachel Ray when he got back to Earth, and then flicked Stan into the air.
A Roger Story[]
Francine and Snot's mom met with Satan after going to the underworld to find their sons. When they arrived he was typing an email, and then turned his attention to them after he sent it. They told him that they were looking for their sons, and so he escorted them to the floor for people who supported bad comedy. After finding them, Satan teleported them to a room and told them that the only way the boys could go back is if Francine and Snot's mom stayed in the room together forever. They agreed, and so Snot and Steve went on to live a life where they never remembered their mothers.
