~ Soundblaster taunting Soundwave before stealing Laserbeak. |
Soundblaster is a major antagonist of Transformers: Cyberverse, serving as the secondary antagonist of the TV film, The Immobilizers. He is the ruthless second-in-command of the Mercenaries, a group of bandits that plunders many planets, with Soundblaster himself being responsible for destroying them shortly thereafter to cover their tracks. He is also the archnemesis of Soundwave, as well as the master of his pet bird, Buzzsaw.
He was voiced by Marc Thompson, who voiced both Megatron and his alternate universe counterpart.
Personality[]
Soundblaster is a ruthlessly petty villain. His main drive for joining the Mercenaries and destroying multiple planets after raiding them was solely because Soundwave beat him in what's tantamount to a beatboxing competition and took his title as the beatboxing champion of the Decepticons, renouncing his role as a Decepticon and leaving the planet, with the only reason he came back to Cybertron and to loot the place (and eventually destroy it) was solely to settle his score with Soundwave. He has also shown to be a very sadistic individual, planning to relish on Soundwave's pain when he takes away Laserbeak, the only person he really cares about, by taking him away from Soundwave and imprisoning him as his new pet, before doing so, unfreezing Laserbeak to really hurt Soundwave, as well as relishing in Soundwave's torture when he has him be shaken violently by violent soundwaves that echo and amplify over and over to the point of breaking from the trauma. Unlike most of his cohorts and like his boss and Nightbird, Soundblaster doesn't like fooling around and takes his job very seriously. He is largely uncaring of his own men, being completely emotionless when he accidentally froze Bugbite in time when he tried blasting Grimlock, as well as being merely professional with his boss. The only person he could possibly care about is his bird, Buzzsaw, having exclaimed in anger when he accidentally freezes him when he was trying to shoot Laserbeak.
Appearance[]
Soundblaster has roughly the same build as Soundwave, having a sonic soundwave blaster mounted on his left shoulder and on his right, a weapons blast, as well as a glass door to a compartment he keeps his pet bird (who transforms into a disk) in, as well as two screens in both shoulders that depict the sound wave whenever he speaks. Unlike Soundwave, he has a grey color scheme rather than blue, while also currently having the black Mercenary logo compared to the purple Decepticon one. Soundblaster also has some visible battle damage throughout his body, and speaks with a Texan accent.
Biography[]
Past[]
Soundblaster was of Cybertronian origins. Before the Great War broke out, he joined Megatron's organization, the Decepticons. Whenever they were free at Maccaddam's, he would be the faction's entertainer, being its beat-boxer. He also had a rival, Soundwave, who they competed for years. One day, they had a soundwave-blasting competition and Soundwave won, making him the champion of the Decepticons. Out of petty envy, Soundblaster broke his glass compartment, leaving it permanently shattered, as he ends up leaving Cybertron for good and ditching the Decepticon logo. He eventually finds Trypticon, who then employs him as his right-hand and leading his heists on multiple planets. After he is finished looting, under Trypticon's orders, Soundblaster destroys the planets, which were many. One of them was the Cybertronian colony which adopted dinosaur forms
The Immobilizers[]
Soundblaster makes his introduction by ordering Bugbite to freed time in Cybertron, so they could plunder the planet. He then enters the surface of the planet, landing the ship and leading the Mercenaries for the heist as he blasts music when making his entrance. Arcee then shoots at them, threatening to shoot again, to which Soundblaster then confronts her. When Arcee recognizes him, Soundblaster shoots her with the ray, freezing her, before taunting her. He then gets into his truck, ordering his men to tear the planet up. When the Dinobots attack the crew, Soundblaster enters as he blasts music, trying to freeze Grimlock, but that failed and froze Bugbite instead, which he reacts apathetically. He then tries doing the same to all the Dinobots by shooting them, missing every time but also forcing all of them, except, Grimlock, who ends up stomping with enough force to knock them back, to retreat, while an angry Soundblaster watches.
Soundblaster then reappears riding his truck to the Parade. When he arrives, he reports to Trypticon. When Bugbite makes fun of Doublecrosser by telling how extremely similar they look to Rack'N'Ruin, Soundblaster scolds them for fooling around and to get serious. He orders them and Afterburner to start looting while he and Nightbird go to the stage to take Soundwave. Soundblaster then unfreezes Soundwave's head, leaving only his head to be normal while the rest of his body remains frozen. He then has Doublecrosser and Afterburner to chuck him off the stage and onto the ground. When Soundwave gets picked up, Soundblaster tells that his real revenge is going to start now, but Soundwave doesn't remember why he wants to, while also taunting him for being, annoying, inferior to him and quickly forgotten, to which Soundblaster expresses his pride on having destroyed multiple planets and that he will be remembered for that. He then plans to hurt Soundwave really badly by harming the only living being he really cares about, Laserbeak, removing him from his compartment and then unfreezing him, causing him to squeal in fear before Soundblaster forces him into his compartment where he keeps his bird, Buzzsaw. He then has an infinite resonator set up and unfreezes Soundwave to kick him into it, forcing him to be trapped in it and have every small noise he makes echo back and amplify, planning to painfully kill him.
As Soundblaster relishes in it, Volcanicus (the combined form of the Dinobots) engages in a battle with the Mercenaries. Soundblaster then shoots his time-freezing ray at them, but Volcanicus' shield blocked it. When the battle ends up damaging the infinite resonator and freeing Soundwave, Soundblaster immediately blasts him with his ray without even looking at him, while taunting him. However, Laserbeak got free, to which Buzzsaw comes out to go on and catch him, to which Soundblster tries shooting at the former, ending up freezing the latter, something that did frustrate him. Laserbeak then takes the time blaster. When Afterburner shoots at him, he ends up losing the time blaster, causing him to worry, while blasting sonic soundwaves at them, nearly knocking them back, before Volcanicus fires missiles at them. Volcanicus then defeats them, emptying the box they use to store their loot to imprison them. When Grimlock demands to unfreeze all of time in Cybertron, Soundblaster then tells that is above his paygrade and he must speak to his boss, Trypticon. Trypticon then enters.
Trypticon's first action was to fire Soundblaster and the rest of his team, planning to leave them to die when he destroys the planet. When the battle between Volcanicus and Trypticon lets the latter's tail to knock the box off, Soundbalster and the rest of the crew were free, before being shot by Trypticon's lasers, leaving Soundblaster's legs detached from his body and nearly disintegrated. When Bugbite finds his legs, he held them so high, they ended up being blasted by Trypticon's lasers and disintegrated. While the rest of the crew ran, Soundblaster called Nightbird to carry him and help him escape. When Volcanicus seemingly kills Trypticon by impaling him at the neck, shocking Soundblaster that the Dinobots were actually able to do it. Seeing this, Soundblaster and Nightbird use this as an opportunity to escape Cybertron, running away defeated, but still at large.
