~ Roddy Piper. |
"Rowdy" Roddy Piper (April 17, 1954 – July 31, 2015) was a Canadian professional wrestler who is best remembered as a heel during his initial run with the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE), although he also wrestled as both a heel and a babyface in several National Wrestling Alliance-affiliated promotions prior to joining the WWF in 1984. He was also the main antagonist of WWF in Late 1984 to mid 1985 he was also the main antagonist of the Hulk Hogan's Rock 'n' Wrestling cartoon.
Bio[]
During his first WWF run, Rowdy Roddy was a jerk thru and thru, as well as an irredeemable bully. As Hulk Hogan's archnemesis, Piper would go to any length to either humiliate Hulk, or beat him in the wrestling ring. Backing him up were fellow wrestling villains, such as Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, the Iron Sheik, Nikolai Volkoff, and Mr. Fuji, who were just as arrogant and rude as he was, and were just as willing to cheat to beat Hulk and his friends. But fortunately, Piper failed due to his own arrogance and anger, thus proving that cheaters never prosper.
Piper was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005 and was named as the top villain in wrestling history by WWE. He died in his sleep on July 31, 2015 at the age of 61 in his home in Hollywood, California. His death certificate was attributed to cardiopulmonary arrest caused by hypertension, listing a pulmonary embolism as a contributing factor.
