Nocturna is a one-time villain from the Teletoon animated series, Sidekick. He is a nightmarish ghost who haunts people's dreams and forces them to live out their worst nightmares. He appeared in "Sleepless in Splitsboro".

He was voiced by Robert Tinkler.

Biography[]

Many years ago, Nocturna used to be a regular human being, working as a scientist who was working on a new technology to access people's dreams. However, everything went awry when Maxum Man fell from the sky during one of his bouts with evil and crashed into the the dream machine, electrocuting Nocturna. The electrocution was ultimately harmless and Nocturna was relieved to know that he withstood the shock. He explained to Maxum Man that if he got shocked one more time, he'd be trapped in the dream world forever. Like a total idiot, Maxum Man found a pretty looking lever on the dream machine and pulled it, electrocuting Nocturna a second time and sending him into the dream world. Nocturna was so mad at Maxum Man for dooming him to an eternity in the dream world, that he haunted him every single time he went to sleep and forced him to live out his worst nightmares. However, Maxum Man decided to avoid ever seeing Nocturna again by simply not sleeping anymore, which was completely doable, as this was one of his superpowers.

In present day, Nocturna decided to start haunting the sidekicks for some reason, despite them having nothing to do with his constant state of suffering. He would go into the dreams of Eric, Trevor, Kitty, and Vana, just to name a few people and he would force them to live out their worst nightmares and torture them psychologically for his own amusement. He would play into Eric's worst fear of disappointing Maxum Man, Kitty's worst fear of technology turning on her, Vana's worst fear of taking orders from Eric, and Trevor's worst fear of having to spend quality time with his father. Every single time he scared someone or made them suffer, he would grow in size and power.

The sidekicks were eventually able to defeat Nocturna by taking control of their own dreams and dreaming up happy dreams that would counteract the scary nightmares and cause Nocturna to lose his power and turn into a powerless little ghost. Vana dreamed of being a hero named Galacta-Lass, who was hailed as the greatest person in the world, Kitty dreamed of going on a date with Eric, Trevor dreamed of a wonderland of sunshine, rainbows and candy, where he was a merman and he sat in a kangaroo pouch and got fed a giant lollipop by a leprechaun riding a unicorn, and finally, Eric had a dream of being a normal boy with parents, both of whom were Maxum Man. This eventually rendered Nocturna completely powerless.

As punishment for what he did, the sidekicks had Nocturna trapped inside of Trevor's dream, which was the happiest place in the universe. There, Nocturna would be trapped in the kangaroo pouch and force-fed lollipops for the rest of eternity, powerless to haunt anyone ever again.
