My name is Jerome Wise, and I came up with the name of our shadowy organization.
~ Wise in the comic books.

Jerome Wise is a minor antagonist in Sonic X. He was the President's press secretary, but was fired after he got caught conspiring with Dr. Eggman against Sonic. In the Archie Comics, he was a member of the S.O.N.I.C.X. organization, being the one who actually created the name after extensive searches through the internet.

He was voiced by Kōji Haramaki in the Japanese version and David Lapkin in the English version.

Biography[]

Anime[]

Wise was first seen in the first season, serving as the President's aide. His first major role was in Episode 14 when the president required Sonic's presence in a party to congratulate him and his friends for their efforts. However, Wise overreacted and sent an entire military team to capture the hedgehog for the president's party, putting the life of Chris Thorndyke's friend, Helen, in danger. Eventually, Sonic did arrive at the party, but the journalists meant to photograph him for propaganda purposes had blacked out due to the alcohol Jerome gave them (or simply got tired of waiting in the English dub), causing Wise to faint in exhaustion.

Later Jerome, scared of dire consequences that may follow should Sonic decline Sam Speed's offer to race him, bribed Dr. Eggman and his robots into helping him blackmail the hedgehog. When the President was unable to appear at the finish line, Jerome thought of meeting the winner himself, which would make him popular enough to start his own presidential campaign. His dreams were crushed shortly after as his conspiracy was exposed and he was fired. He became a garbage man but later lost this job as well and is seen by the remainder of the series as a homeless man with ragged clothes.

During the Chaos's attack on Station Square, he is seen among the people saving Sam Speed from the flood and later asks him if he knows "Vivian", much to his confusion.

When Eggman makes everyone believe that the Moon had stopped, he, like others, got mad at Sonic for destroying their only source of light and led an angry mob to storm the Thorndyke Mansion and attack Sonic's friends. However, he was stopped by Sam Speed.

During the Chaos Emerald, he participates under the moniker of Black Knight, fighting and winning by forfeit against the President but losing to Knuckles and fleeing the rink in terror. He is never seen or mentioned afterwards.

Comic series[]

At some point after his defeat in the episode Prize Fights, Jerome is invited into an organization comprised of many others who had their lives "ruined" by Sonic or his friends. Jerome then came up with the name S.O.N.I.C.X., which began their chase against the hedgehog and his group. However, the comic series is separate from the anime since Card Passer was even arrested before Sonic and his friends had to go back to their home world, making the comics non canon.
