~ Henri Lemieux to Jean-Marc Mercier |
Mayor Henri Lemieux is a supporting character in Red Dead Redemption 2. He is the corrupt mayor of Saint Denis who hires the player (Arthur Morgan/John Marston) to deal with any threats to his power base and enrich himself.
Biography[]
Red Dead Online[]
Lemieux appropriates a number of smuggled jewels seized by the Saint Denis Police Department and stashes them in his residence. The protagonist is hired by a contact named Josiah to steal the jewels, infiltrating Lemieux's mansion and removing the jewels before selling them to Josiah.
Red Dead Redemption 2[]
Lemieux first appears when Arthur Morgan, Dutch van der Linde, Hosea Matthews and Bill Williamson attend his party with Angelo Bronte. Bronte points out Lemieux and explains that he will do anything for a dollar. Arthur is sent to eject a drunk guest who is harassing Lemieux from the premises. Later, Dutch overhears Lemieux's butler telling him that a document related to Leviticus Cornwall is awaiting his signature and sends Arthur to steal the document from Lemieux's office to undermine Cornwall.
Lemieux soon realizes that the gang robbed him and decides to hire them out as enforcers, sending Arthur a letter telling him to visit his residence. Either Arthur or John Marston can accept his offer and visit Lemieux, who asks them to deal with an art appraiser named Professor Shiftacre who is about to reveal that a number of paintings Lemieux has purchased for the city museum are forgeries. The player follows Shiftacre and beats him up until he agrees to change his evaluation, and Lemieux has his deputy Jean Marc Mercier pay the player $15.
Lemieux later contacts the player again and hires them to extort businessman Hector Fellowes out of a large sum of money in order to pay for a new library. The player boards Fellowes's stagecoach and beats him up until he agrees to send Lemieux a cheque.
In Lemieux's final mission, he contracts the player to deal with Jean Marc, who has become fed up with Lemieux's corruption and is threatening to go to the newspapers about his crimes. The player is obligated to knock out Jean Marc and take him back to Lemieux's residence, where Lemieux orders them to kill him. The player can shoot Jean Marc or let him go.
- Kill Jean Marc: If the player shoots Jean Marc, they are then told to dump his body in the river behind Lemieux's house. Lemieux later sends them a letter thanking them for their services and grants them a 10% discount in all shops in Saint Denis.
- Spare Jean Marc: If the player lets Jean Marc go, they later receive a letter informing them that Lemieux has been forced to resign due to his illegal activities and Jean Marc is now mayor. If this option is taken the player can later overhear a random citizen claiming that Lemieux has been sent to prison.
