Gustav Varner is a terrorist and a mass murderer responsible for setting off bombs in European countries like Spain, Greece and Estonia. He planned to set off a bomb in downtown Los Angeles. He is the main antagonist of the S.W.A.T. episode "Woah Black Betty".
He is portrayed by Monroe Robertson.
Biography[]
In the past, Varner was behind the Villatoma bombing in Spain which killed 198 people and injured 300 in 2019. There were other bombings in Estonia and Greece which claimed multiple of lives. It was noted by FBI Agent Vasquez that Islamic State too credit for Varner's crimes only because the Interpol investigation into Varner did not go well allowing for him to get away with his crimes. According to FBI Agent Vasquez, Varner has been targeting NATO countries.
Since the terrorist attacks, Varner planned to target Los Angeles and entered the United States to carry out this plan. While on this operation, he maintains his security to ensure that no one can stop in him in his plans. Varner gets into business with Bryce McCabe and his men by paying them money to carry out his operation. The operation consisted of McCabe stealing the S.W.A.T.'s armored vehicle named Black Betty and having his men steal Yellowcake Uranium from a facility. When one of McCabe's men, Jones, was captured, FBI Agent Vasquez and LAPD S.W.A.T. commander Hicks informed the man about Varner's activities, which allowed the man to inform S.W.A.T. about the meeting spot for McCabe and Varner.
Varner meets with McCabe with the stolen armored vehicle and the uranium. When McCabe gave the item to Varner, he was surprised that he was transporting Yellowcake Uranium. Varner tells McCabe to avoid downtown Los Angeles. The S.W.A.T. began to close in on Varner and McCabe. Varner orders his men to kill them as he and McCabe got into the armored vehicle to try and get away. Dominique Luca was able to destroy a part of the armored vehicle which made it impossible for Varner to drive. Varner got out of the vehicle and was apprehended and arrested by FBI Agent Vasquez.
