Fungus Maximus is the secondary antagonist of the Barbie Fairytopia franchise. He helps Laverna get the immunity berry in Mermaidia that will make her immune to all magic past, present, and future.

Mermaidia[]
He captures Prince Nalu as Laverna gives Fungus a call to make sure Maximus has gone through with the plan. He asks to rule by Laverna's side, she sarcastically says yes. He drops a drop of poison in the water to show how powerful it is, and it kills everything in the pool within seconds. He forces Nalu to tell him how to get to the berry so that his Fungi men will block the poison from getting all of Mermaidia. Nalu says there's special seaweed to make him breathe underwater. Nalu tricks the Fungi into going around the Carousel of Confusion to stall them, until Maximus sees through the trick and brings him to the surface.
Nalu says they should go down the whirlpool, Maximus doesn't take him seriously and threatens to poison Mermaidia again, but he actually wasn't lying this time. Then Laverna calls him again and he cowardly accepts to go down the whirlpool.
He finds a room full of berries and picks them one by one to show Laverna, and she gets angry until he finally finds it.
The Fungi have hung Nalu by his tail for a while, and after the mermaids free him, Maximus has to play catch with the mermaids to get the immunity berry. Finally, he stands atop the waterfall with Elina holding the immunity berry and gives her an ultimatum: give him the immunity berry, or he will poison all of Mermaidia by dropping the vial in the water. So she gives it to him, but he drops the vial anyway, and watches as she jumps in to catch the vial even though her pearls have turned white while she was underwater making her a permanent mermaid (although this was reversed).
Maximus accidentally gave Laverna the berry that reveals her true self, with the red stripe faked, and she turns into a toad.
