Biography[]
Duncan started out the series as the quarterback and star player of the Bayville High football team, who was dating Jean Grey, who was the star player for the school's soccer team, but he had a rivalry with Scott Summers, a friend of Jean's from the boarding school they both live in, Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.
One night during a football game, Duncan and his two friends witness outcast Todd Tolansky pick-pocketing people's money from money from under the stands and go to confront him. As Duncan and his friends prepare to beat up Todd for stealing, Scott arrives at the scene and stops them from doing so. After fighting against Scott, Duncan unintentionally knocks Scott's sunglasses off, which causes Scott to use his mutant power of optic blasts to knock Duncan out but he also hits propane tank at the snack bar causing an explosion. Then Duncan carried off on a stretcher into an ambulance as Jean comforts him.
Throughout the first two seasons, Duncan, along with the rest of the world remain unaware that Jean, Scott, or any of the other kids from the Xavier School are mutants, and continues his rivalry with Scott. However, Duncan so learns the truth about them when the X-Men are attacked by a giant robot called a sentinel when watching the fight on TV. At first Duncan is willing to continue his relationship with Jean, despite everyone's xenophobic fear of mutants. But when he calls her power a problem, and suggests using them to cheat on tests, this causing an angry Jean to break up with him. Duncan, blaming Scott for ruining his relationship with Jean, then, along with his friends, picks a fight with Scott, in attempt to get him expelled by making Scott use his powers, as the X-Men are not allowed to use their powers at school. Scott, however, is able to hold ground against Duncan and his friends, then Kitty and Rogue show up to help Scott. Duncan and his buddies then decide not to continue the fight and walk away, telling Scott, Rogue, and Kitty they won't last long at Bayville High.
After the fight Duncan is called into the office of the school's principal, Edward Kelly, who shares Duncan's dislike for mutants, and is convertibility enlisted by Kelly to help get Scott and his friends expelled from school, as the school board is having a meeting at night to decide have a permanent ban on mutants from attending the school, and suggests he works to together with the Brotherhood, who Kelly invited back to school for the day knowing they will cause and might convince the school board to ban mutants, by mentioning how they also dislike Scott. At night, when Scott and the others show to attend the school board meeting, Duncan confronts Scott to continue their fight, with the Brotherhood even backing him up. Despite being at a disadvantage by not using their powers, the X-Men show restrain and don't use them, except to protect Kelly and other bystanders from being caught in the middle of the fight, convincing the school board not to follow up on their ban on mutants attending school.
After Duncan graduates from Bayville High school, he gets a job working as a miner. He still appears cling to his success in football in high school, even wearing his high school sweater on a daily basis, this appears to be his main achievement in life, as he never attends collage, it is implied that he was not great in academics, or plays sports professionally. Duncan appears to blame all of this failings in life on the mutants and his hatred for them has only increased with time.
As anti-mutant hysteria grows, due to the trouble caused around the world by a powerful mutant called Apocalypse, Duncan, along with the rest of the citizens of Bayville, start to become more angry and hostile towards mutants, even going so far trying commit hate-crimes. After Spyke, who left the X-Men and joined the Morlocks when his mutation started to grow out control, destroys Duncan's car after defending Sam and Amara from the Xavier school from Duncan and his friends, Duncan gets some mining equipment and leads his friends to hunt for the Morlocks. As their hunt causes some from property damage in Bayville, Duncan and his friends then fight the Morlocks and X-Men, who show up to help. As Jean tries to reason with Duncan, he coldly tells her he's done listening to her, (while also coldly telling him in return that she’s done putting up with him) before she uses her powers against him when Duncan tries attack her. The fight continues until a mutant child named Dorian Leech uses his powers to repress the X-Men and Morlock's powers and disable the mining equipment. Duncan and his friends try and flee the scene but are stopped by the cops and arrested for the trouble they caused.
