The Church of the Eternal Mother are minor antagonists in the SCP Foundation series.

They are a Proto-Sarkic cult located within SCP-4476, a fishing village in the Louisiana bayou.

History[]

The Church appear to have been founded circa 1800 BCE, around the time of the emergence of Sarkicism. They were led by Karcist Meksa at the time. During the First Occult War, they fled the Sarkic city of Gyaros when it was destroyed by Karcist Tundas in order to hold off the Mekhanites. They attempted to cross the Aegean Sea to reunite with Grand Karcist Ion, but their ships were destroyed in a storm and they landed in North America.

The Church of the Eternal Mother were discovered by the SCP Foundation in an area of the Louisiana bayou, the Plaquemines Swamp, designated SCP-4476. An isolation zone was set up around the area to conceal the Church's existence.

The Church's followers, made entirely up of the inbred Natau Family, were designated SCP-4476-1. They are led by five elderly women known as the Manmas Natau, at least one of whom will regularly become spontaneously pregnant. Members of the Church are immune to illnesses, apparently due to being blessed by Ion.

Foundation Study[]

In an attempt to learn more about Sarkicism, Foundation doctor Isabelle Beaumont was placed within SCP-4476. Her study found that the temple of the Manmas Natau, or Kiraak, was made out of human flesh and bone. Despite initial hesitation she was able to make progress and even managed to enter the Kiraak for a birthing ritual, where she found that the majority of children born to the Manmas Natau are stillborn and used to "feed the Kiraak", meaning their remains are added to the Kiraak.

After an extensive study, Dr. Beaumont was invited to participate in an overnight ritual within the Kiraak. MTF Beta-2 "Bayou Boys" were deployed to investigate after she didn't return. Upon entering they were attacked by members of the Church, but were able to shoot two of them down before the Sarkites retreated. They then found Dr. Beaumont, who had had her uterus and reproductive organs amputated and was in the process of being fed to the Kiraak. MTF Beta-2 were able to remove her and eliminate three more Church members before escaping and retreating to the nearby Foundation outpost, where Dr. Beaumont died of her injuries.

However, it turned out she survived as had been successfully converted to the Nälkä faith and as a result she was able to be reborn. Despite this, she still gave some info to Researcher Lawrence Blackett to help him in his investigation of a series of ritual killings.
