Brucks is a supporting antagonist in Season 1, a minor antagonist in Season 3, and a minor character in Season 6 of the TV Series, Cobra Kai.
He is one of Kyler's cronies and his second-in-command. At first, he enjoys bullying along with Kyler and their gang some students like Miguel Diaz and Eli Moskowitz. However, when both Miguel and Eli start training at Cobra Kai, the tables turn for the bullies. Brucks later joins Cobra Kai along with Kyler, but is almost immediately beaten up brutally by Hawk as a revenge for bullying him, and is kicked out of the dojo.
He recurs in Season 6, where he made amends with his old bullying victims.
He was portrayed by Bo Mitchell.
Biography[]
Season 1[]
Brucks is first seen with Kyler and two other of his friends going to mini-mart to buy beer. After Miguel accidentally exposed them for being underage, the gang began antagonizing him and pushed him up against Johnny Lawrence's car.
Johnny stepped in to tell them to back off, but Kyler and Brucks just made fun of him. Johnny then decided to fight them off, using his karate to make short work of Brucks and Kyler, as well as his other cronies. However, the police soon showed up to break up the fight.
When Miguel confronted Kyler to tell him to stop bullying Sam, Brucks got up to fight him after Kyler challenged him to a fight. Despite outnumbering Miguel, all four of Kyler's gang were beat up by him with the skills he learned from Cobra Kai.
Brucks is last seen at the lake party, when he, along with Kyler, Yasmine, and Moon try to celebrate Yasmine's birthday, but discover that Cobra Kai arrived earlier and had thrown a party. Kyler tries to ask everyone to leave, but noticing Miguel's presence, he gets scared and suggests they leave, and Brucks follows him.
Season 2[]
Brucks isn't seen or mentioned, most likely because the plot is taking place during summer vacation for the most part.
Season 3[]
Brucks is recruited into Cobra Kai alongside Kyler by Kreese, but is brutally beaten by Hawk (formerly Eli) during his tryout, an act that also intimidates Kyler (while also making it so Brucks is subsequently denied a spot in Cobra Kai).
Season 4 & 5[]
Brucks isn't seen or mentioned in Season 4 and 5, so it's possible he was hospitalized after being beaten up by Hawk.
Season 6[]
During a college tour at College of the Valley, Demetri explains that University of Phoenix would be a small school if they weren't online. Just then, the tour guide is tackled by Brucks, who was trying to catch a small red Frisbee. He and Kyler are surprised to see Miguel and the binary brothers there. Eli apologizes to Brucks for brutally beating him and admits he was brainwashed, but Brucks gracefully accepts his apology, saying it changed him for the better. Kyler also explains that Brucks goes to MIT and Demetri gets surprised. He then asks his former bully victims if he is still hanging out with him.
Later, Miguel, Eli and Demetri are at a fraternity house where Kyler is being hazed by Zenker, the leader of the fraternity Theta Omega. Hawk, on the other hand, chugs beer and puts the finished cups on his Mohawk, earning him the nickname "Spikes" by the other college students and Zenker. Later, Miguel and Demetri overhear the students planning to disqualify Kyler from their process. The binary brothers are curious about how Brucks got into MIT by asking about his SAT score. Meanwhile, Zenker tries to haze Kyler again, but Miguel makes him tell the truth about why Kyler can't be in the fraternity. Kyler then pours beer on Zenker's head, and when Zenker tries to beat up Kyler, Kyler stops him, and a fight begins at the fraternity house. Miguel defends Kyler and then Brucks takes down other students as well. Eli and Demetri fight the others and after they win, they flee the house.
Personality[]
Brucks is Kyler's obese and dimwitted best friend, who aids him in bullying Miguel Diaz, Eli, and Demetri. He is often heard saying "That's brute, Ky!" while Kyler harasses and assaults Miguel. After he, Kyler, and the rest of their gang are defeated by Miguel, they leave Miguel, Demetri, and Eli alone. Just like his friend Kyler, Brucks is pathetically lacking in bravery. As in addition to never being seen apart from Kyler, he is easily cowed in any 1 on 1 against somebody that would hit him back in a fight.
Trivia[]
- Brucks can be compared to Dutch, as the two are the right-hand of their respective leaders: Brucks with Kyler, and Dutch with Johnny in the 80's.
