This is the canvas work project and it can be done as a brooch or scissor keeper and can be stitched with a black background or with a coloured background.
Below are the blackwork samples. You can stitch it using black or with a variegated thread and cover a box or make a hanging.

Stitching Day projects
Fiona and I thought we would show you our projects for Stitching on the Lake which is on next Saturday 2 May. We are also running a day in Queanbeyan on the Sunday with the same projects. We are really looking forward to the weekend and to sharing a great couple of days of stitching, good food, friendship and lots of chat and laughter. Fiona will be posting the other projects on her blog, Peaceful Threads.
This is little Lucy Bear. She is only 15cms (6") tall.
These two bags can have their pockets either stitched or partly decorated using a punchneedle.
This is the Little Village Hanging and it has another green border and binding to finish it off. I took the picture at this stage to show the detail of the little houses. They are only about 5 cms (2") or so tall.

Finished Projects
I am feeling very good today as I managed to finish a few things yesterday. I only had a few stitches left on this naive Christmas stitchery. I plan to get it framed. I stitched it mainly while I was away on holidays.
This is the little Bareroots bag I have been working on. I am very pleased with the result. It didn't take that long to put together!
Here is the other bag that I had started as well. I love finishing things!

Bag fabrics
Here is the front of the bag I am working on. Aren't the fabrics lovely? They came in a kit from Steph's Patchwork in Moruya. It is going together well and I hope to work on it today as I have most of the day at home.

Sewing store Pin cushion finished and a work in progress
Stitched this lovely pin cushion together the other day. It is a pattern by Anni Downs and is such a nice project. Very quick and easy.
Below is the pocket stitched for a Bareroots bag I am attempting to complete. As always I love the stitching and neglect the finishing off when machining is required!

I must admit I have been very busy making kits for the stitching day which is only a week and a bit away. I am nearly finished. Hope to get the last ones done today.

A little bit of stitching
I did manage to do a little bit of stitching on holidays in between relaxing, reading, eating and being a tourist. I managed to stitch the embroidered handles for the stitching day bag and a Bareroots one I am working on. I also stitched a little pin cushion stitchery and the redwork for a cushion and started a Christmas stitchery too. I also completed the stitching for this little kit I bought from the lovely shop in Moruya. The kit was so nicely presented like this. It is a Sally Giblin design.
These are the fabrics that were inside plus the ricrac and pellon needed.
Here is the stitchery that is on the bag. The sample was lovely and I couldn't resist! Now I need to make it up. I have added it to my list of things to finish.

Last few holiday snaps
We were meant to visit the Isle of Pines too but the sea was too rough for the tender boats to go into shore. We had to have another relaxing day on board instead.
Late arrivals to the ship in Vila
This little adventure became the talk of the ship! We were to be back on board by 3.30pm and we were watching all the guests getting back on. The ship was due to leave soon after 3.30 but there was an announcement that 2 guests were not on board! The ship waited a little while and sent someone looking and then left the pier! The ship was about 30m from the pier when 2 people came running to the edge of the pier. At this stage hundreds of people were on the decks watching and waving. The locals called the little green boat you can see in the following photo.
The couple got into the boat but nothing happened for quite a while. We think they were negotiating the price!
The little boat headed to the ship and then realised it needed to be on the other side of the ship. Everyone rushed to the other side to see what was happening.
Here they are putting on life jackets to climb on the ship! How embarrassing. The talk was all about the man in the stripy shirt and his companion! I think the fellow below was quite happy as he returned to shore.

Luganville and Vila
We went to a place called Luganville, which had been a military port for the US forces in WW2. It was very rundown. At the port there were several groups of children singing for donations, which was sad but also a nice touch too. These ones sang Sunday school songs, like Jesus loves me, and lots of old ones all day. It was pretty hot and they sang all day!
We also visited Vila, which for most of the ship's passengers, was well known for the cheapest alcohol. Many bags of "grog" ended up back on the ship. This was a fruit market.

A few holiday snaps
This was the scene in Sydney as the ship prepared to leave from Circular Quay.
Our first stop was Noumea. The town centre was fairly run down but we took a bus to the beach and had a lovely swim in the clear, warm water. Nice to hear the locals chatting in french. Some of the sunbaking beauties were very undressed!
We then had a stop at Mystery Island and were tendered in from the ship. A beautiful day for a swim and a very picturesque place.
This enterprising fellow took people on boat rides.

Birthday wishes and Holidays
I have just come home this afternoon from a lovely relaxing holiday away on a cruise. We were very spoilt on the cruise with lots of yummy food, warm weather, time to read and stitch and just relax! No cooking or cleaning or any work at all for 12 days! I will post some pictures soon.
These are some pictures taken a few weeks ago as I celebrated my birthday with some dear friends. This is my dessert!!! Absolutely delicious.

Margaret's bag and felt Easter eggs
This is the front of Margaret's bag. Lovely stitching and colours.
Carol is making some low calorie easter eggs out of felt. They are so cute and came from an old Homespun magazine. She also brought some real chocolate eggs for us too!!!!
