Description
Zangief jumps up at a slight angle in an attempt to grab an airborne opponent; if successful, he performs a move. The move, along with the Super Combo's height, speed, and distance, depend on the level.
At Level 1, Zangief performs a Toss Slam, at Level 2 he uses a Piledriver, and at Level 3, Zangief uses a Powerbomb.
In the Marvel vs. Capcom games, the Level 1 version is used as a special attack by Zangief and Mech-Zangief.
In Street Fighter 6, Zangief performs a powerbomb to slam them onto the ground before following up with a sitting powerbomb.
Tactics
- "Jump diagonally upward, grabbing an airborne opponent before viciously slamming them into the ground. Useful as an anti-air counter when predicting your opponent's jumps or when worked into combos."
- —Street Fighter 6
Aerial Russian Slam's slow startup and hitbox make it a somewhat abnormal anti-air, being better at catching neutral and back jumps than any forward jumping Heavy Attacks. Successfully landing Aerial Russian Slam, either by intercepting an opponent's attempt at avoiding a command grab or comboing into it via Hellstab or Cyclone Lariat deals an incredible amount of damage, higher than most characters Level 2 Super Arts.
