Ep 3?[]

Has it been determined if this prototype was the same as the incomplete Death Star from Episode III? -- Silly Dan 03:49, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • It's unknown to me. We may have to wait for the next Inside the Worlds of book to find out. -- Riffsyphon1024 03:58, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)
    • I hope it is. It has a strong resemblance to the description in the books. To me, it is an excellent explanation for why it took 19 years for the Death Star to be complete. Adamwankenobi 15:45, 13 Nov 2005 (UTC)
      • Read The New Essential Chronology. The Death Star in Episode III is, in fact, the first Death Star. The prototype was not built until after 19 BBY. Cmdr. J. Nebulax 16:18, 13 Nov 2005 (UTC)
        • We don't know to which particular time the short sequence with Tarkin occurs. It could be right after the main events of the movie, or several years later which would fit the timeframe of the Prototype, since the Empire seems to be well-established, with uniforms, TIE fighters and all. This is possible, despite showing the less-than-year-old babies afterwards. MoffRebus 23:13, 25 Dec 2005 (UTC)
          • Actually, it does take place after RotS. There are Venator-class Star Destroyers, not Imperial I-class Star Destroyers; Alpha-3 Nimbus-class V-wing starfighters, not TIE fighters; and the same uniforms of Republic officers, which would later be slightly changed. This is the first Death Star. Lucas even confirmed it. Admiral J. Nebulax 00:25, 26 Dec 2005 (UTC)
        • Once again, several different sources are giving different ideas. Hopefully in the 2007 book on the constructiopn of the Death Star, this is all fully explained, and keeps everything inn line with Anderson's books. Adamwankenobi 16:25, 13 Nov 2005 (UTC)
          • "and keeps everything inn line with Anderson's books." Are you obsessed with this or something? The New Essential Chronology shows the facts. Cmdr. J. Nebulax 17:35, 13 Nov 2005 (UTC)
            • In a way, yes, I am. Adamwankenobi 18:19, 13 Nov 2005 (UTC)
              • Hey, we're all proud of Star Wars here. Cmdr. J. Nebulax 19:57, 13 Nov 2005 (UTC)
                • The Jedi Academy Sourcebook (published in 1996) seems to be in line with the idea that Palpatine, Vader, and Tarkin are not viewing the Death Star prototype in RotS. Tarkin zealously guarded the existence of Maw Installation from Palpatine's eyes and definitely wouldn't take him out there to view the prototype. True, there was probably nothing keeping him from hauling the prototype out of the black hole cluster and then showing it to Palpatine, but to me it would make little sense to drag Palpatine off of Coruscant just to view a prototype.Muuuuuurgh 00:15, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

Old actual image gone?[]

What happended to the image on the spine of a book (I dont know th titel).?

Who made it?[]

In The Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels it states that Tol Sivron directed the installations specialists to build the prototype. Was Bevel Lemelisk considered one of these "specialists"? I am just wondering if we should add that Tols Sivron directed the construction? It also states that Bevel Lemelisk conceived and designed many of the Death Star's systems. Does all this information mean Tol direceted while Bevel constructed? If so, I think the information should be included on the prototype's page.
