A crime lord,^[15] also known as a crime lady,^[16] crime kingpin,^[17] or crime boss,^[18] was someone who ruled over a criminal organization.^[19]

The Sith Lords Maul and Savage Opress became crime lords in their plot to gather multiple criminal syndicates as a base of power for their planned conquest during the Clone Wars.^[20] Maul continued to command Crimson Dawn into the time of the Galactic Empire.^[21]

Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and Han Solo—heroes of the Rebellion^[22]—had to escape greedy crime lords such as Jabba the Hutt in their adventures.^[19] The desert world of Tatooine,^[19] the swampy world of Nal Hutta, and the jungle world of Teth were amongst the many worlds ruled by Hutt Clan crime lords such as Jabba.^[8]

During the reign of the Empire, Cikatro Vizago was a Devaronian crime lord who ran the Broken Horn Syndicate,^[2] whilst the Quarren Lallani was a crime lady who boasted Mandalorian mercenaries, and was a rival of Jabba's.^[16]
