Vehicle Information
Owner: Jack
Use: Fishing boat
First Appearance: "The Wife Aquatic"

The Rotting Pelican was a fishing vessel owned by Jack of Barnacle Bay.

History[edit]

When the Simpson family was visiting Barnacle Bay, they saw Jack on The Rotting Pelican. Marge asked him what had happened to the town. Jack explained that the town used to fish up Yum-Yum Fish, but they couldn't catch them anymore. Lisa suggested that was because they were overfished.

After Homer accidentally burned down the Barnacle Bay marina with fireworks, he was made to work aboard The Rotting Pelican as a fisherman. After being introduced to the crew, the ship set sail and fished up their first haul. Most of the haul was trash, but they also caught some Slarg Fish, which tasted horrible. When it came to be Homer's turn to cook for the crew, he thought it was Opposite Day so he beer-battered the hooks and baited the shrimp for the meal instead. When the crew went to check the hooks, the Yum-Yum Fish had started biting and the crew started fishing them up.

As the crew were fishing up the Yum-Yum Fish, a storm started to come in. Jack didn't believe that the storm would be that bad due to his trick knee not playing up, even though Billy showed that the barometer said a storm was coming in. Jack's knee then played up and the crew decided to get on the lifeboat and get to safety. However, they found that Bart had stowed away in the lifeboat box, not wanting to spend time with Marge and Lisa. The crew of the ship then watched as a giant wave hit the ship, causing irreparable damage to it. Eventually, the ship sunk, but the crew was saved by a Japanese fishing vessel.
