Nolan Cassidy (also known as "The Present") is a target that appears in the Another Life mission in HITMAN™ 2.
Background[]
Born into a military family, Nolan Cassidy grew up on and around military bases around the US. He enlisted at the age of 18, saw some action in Kosovo and came out with several medals. He wanted to do more for his country, however, and joined the Secret Service's protective branch in 2000.
He adapted well to his new, corporate life and excelled in a range of roles for over a decade. However, when the attacks on Providence began, the Constant assigned Cassidy to Janus' security detail, due to his background as a bodyguard. But babysitting a bitter old spy in a spineless suburban environment is the last thing Cassidy wants, let alone being the butt of the old man's constant abuse.
Nolan Cassidy is a soft-spoken, intense person. A stickler for the rules with an almost militaristic approach to discipline, he's lost only one man while on the job and aims to keep it that way. Stoic and patient, he demands extreme discipline from his men. He takes his job very seriously. Too seriously, in fact, at least in the eyes of Janus. Since his recent arrival, he's beefed up security substantially - to the point where the residents of Whittleton Creek have begun to notice.Personality[]
Nolan Cassidy is shown to be strict, meticulous and reliable, with Arthur Edwards describing him as "loyal to a fault". During his assignment in Whittleton Creek, he is relentlessly trying to ensure the safety of Janus, and can be overheard planning to put up surveillance cameras on all entry roads to Janus' house. He has also been working to insert his own undercover guards in various roles, such as residents or garbage men, in order to infiltrate the homes of people he is suspicious of, like the Wilsons and James Batty. He's also considering replacing the local plumber, in order to install hidden cameras in homes.
He strives to remain professional and can't help but maintain a cold, distant personality even as he tries to blend in with the locals. However, there are a few a few exceptions to this. Despite his suspicions, he is amicable and polite, albeit overly inquisitive towards Richard Wilson during the garden barbecue, and while initially cold, he becomes supportive of Charles Blake III's bid to win his local election, even implying he can ensure victory by rigging the voting machines.
Most other residents view Cassidy with suspicion or wariness, not helped by Cassidy being unfriendly and needlessly curt to some of them in conversation, such as Dale Anderson. He is also disliked by Janus, who views the new safety measures introduced as frustrating and excessive, and Cassidy himself as pedantic and desperate to impress his superiors.
