Non-heterosexuals article rewritten

Hi, I've rewritten Non-heterosexuals and would appreciate you revisiting Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Non-heterosexuals to see if your concerns have been addressed. Thank you! Banjeboi 13:32, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

I second Benjiboi's request, and believe your concerns have been addressed. In all fairness, the article clearly didn't assert notability as it was when nominated. However, due to the improvements during the AfD, please consider withdrawing the nomination, per WP:HEY, as well as per WP:AFD which says: If the reasons given in the deletion nomination are later addressed by editing, the nomination should be withdrawn by the nominator, and the deletion discussion will be closed by an admin. Cut-and-paste moves

Hi! Just wanted to clarify something for you when reviewing suspected copyright violations. Your edit here said the two pages were unrelated - what happened is one article was "cut-and-pasted" to another location instead of moved using the "Move" tab. That is usually what has happened when Corenbot says that one Wikipedia article is a copy of another. You can check this in the articles' histories and fix it by either:

  • Replacing the content of the new article with a redirect to the old article, and reverting the history of the old article back to before it was cut-and-pasted - this is appropriate if you can't see why it was moved or it was no longer necessary (e.g. to create a disambiguation page for an article that has since been deleted), or
  • Tagging the new article with {{db-histmerge|NAME OF PAGE THE ARTICLE WAS CUT FROM}} if the cut-and-paste move makes sense (e.g. fixing a typo) and the page should be moved to the new location properly. An admin will move the existing article to the new location and merge article histories if necessary.

If you come across a real cut-and-paste mess (e.g. a user has cut-and-pasted several articles on top of one another and they've since been edited), you can explain what's happened at the cut and paste move repair holding pen and an admin will fix it. Hope that helps. :) Somno (talk) 05:27, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Thought I would include an example of the first way of fixing cut-and-paste moves, since it was difficult to explain and may have been confusing - a user cut-and-pasted Bigger Than Life into Bigger Than Life (film) and Corenbot posted at suspected copyright violations that "Bigger Than Life (film)" was a copy of "Bigger Than Life". I made Bigger Than Life (film) into a redirect to the original article and reverted the original article back. Somno (talk) 05:35, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I9 applies to such images (though it might be a good idea to request fair use rationales over deletion in some cases). Have you considered informing the uploader that making a screenshot does not transfer the copyright and that PD-self can only be applied to material they have created from scratch themselves or for material that is a derivative of PD material? Most people are just plainly oblivious to copyright rules. Unless we inform them, it won't improve. - Mgm|(talk) 12:34, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

I know this will be a pain but can you review the Menudo (band) page edits that have been done by me over the past months. I sourced the information from NY post and linked one story from a actual news story the clip was on a blog but I was not using the blog info just the news clip. There have been several obvious fans vandal the page, I also think the user from today that started the drama is a Menudo fan.

Just review for nuetral review and revert sourced info if you feel I am correct and/or re-write it in wiki standards.

Ease up on the rampant image tagging

Yo, I'm looking at all these tags you're placing on images and a majority of them are basic stuff like screenshots and game covers. Instead of slapping them with a CSD tag you could take the five minutes, look at their respective articles and add a rationale yourself if the image is warranted. Tbh what you're doing isn't really constructive at all. - 66.19.201.152 (talk) 02:46, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

I noticed you tagged The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past as having an excessive amount of copyrighted material. As of this typing, the page has box art(required), a screenshot illustrating gameplay(required), a sreenshot illustrating the prologue(probably excessive), the album cover(likely helpful), a page from the graphic novel(could be too much, could be helpful), and a screenshot illustrating the gameplay of Four Swords(helpful). I am unaware of anything else that could be construed as copyrighted material. If the screenshot of the prologue were removed, would that satisfy the tag, or would another image need to go? deletable image-caption

Hi, and thanks for looking after some of the fair use images around Wikipedia. I've improved several fair use rationales on images included on List of characters in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones according to your suggestions.

I wanted to point out a minor technicality, though. Your use of {{dfu}} on image pages with disputed rationales is correct, but {{deletable image-caption}} on article pages implies that a disputed fair use rationale is a criterion for speedy deletion (in contradiction of WP:CSD#F6). Instead, you might try a caption like "<small>This image's fair use rationale is disputed. It may be deleted after seven days from the date of the dispute, if uncontested.</small>". Matt Fitzpatrick (talk) 01:42, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi. I came over to mention an AfD here, but wanted to point out that "dfu" is a speedy criterion under WP:CSD#F7: "Invalid fair-use claims tagged with {{subst:dfu}} may be deleted seven days after they are tagged, if a full and valid fair-use use rationale is not added." This is likely why {{Di-disputed fair use rationale}} suggests that contributors "Add following to the image captions: {{deletable image-caption}}". Concerns with that should probably be addressed to WT:CSD, since many contributors are likely to follow the directions on the template. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 11:54, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
Ah, good catch. Vague templates are vague. Maybe I can suggest an improvement there. Matt Fitzpatrick (talk) 00:15, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Re:Coaching

Well, I've been far too busy recently to provide any significant amount of coaching, but the comments I've made in the past (particularly the one when I started the coaching off the top of my head) still stand. Take a set of articles on topics you enjoy and start improving them. If you don't know how, look at GA or FA examples of similar articles. If you still need help, go to the relevant WikiProject and ask for aid. Participation in the normal editing process provides you with knowledge of most of our policies and guidelines and a fairly natural manner as you edit. It's gradual and will take time but is ultimately satisfying (and is the reason we're all here). — sephiroth bcr (converse) 08:38, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Outline collaboration!

As you know, Penubag is working on a banner to advertise the Outline WikiProject. And he's almost done.

The banner prominently presents the "Outline of chocolate", which of course will become the most widely advertised outline as soon as the banner goes live. The first thing many editors will do after seeing the banner is look for that outline.

The problem is, we don't have one.

So that's our first outline collaboration!

I started a draft this morning.

It needs to be finished and moved to the article namespace before we can start using Penubag's banner ad!

Come join in on the fun. It's chocolate!

Co-motherhood From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

When a married heterosexual couple have a child by the use of assisted reproductive technology, the spouse of the new mother will legally and morally be considered the father of the child, although he may not be the biological father. In the same way, homosexual lesbian couples can have children. The role and status of the non-biological mother or co-mother, is called co-motherhood. In some countries, such as the Netherlands and Australia, there is an approximation towards equal legal rights for all parents, regardless of sexual orientation. Why are you playing around with the entry "Douglas Eivind Hall" I am his son and he died shortly before I was born. My mother told me all about him. She was Scottish. Help Cleaning Up Page Move

{{Adminhelp}}

Could someone help with the page moves I made when creating the article for WP:AFC, Entanglement (graph measure). I originally moved it to Entanglement (graph mesasure), noticed that the word "measure" was misspelled, so I moved it to Entanglement (graph meassure). After which I noticed that the new page was still misspelled, and finally moved it to the correct title at: Entanglement (graph measure). Feinoha Talk, My master 00:28, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

Response at WP:FEED

Whether you came to feed as a result of my plea, or for some other reason, I appreciate the attempt to help. However, I was puzzled by this response:

"Do you have a specific question about the topic? We're not mind readers here."

At the help desk, I expect editors to ask a specific question. However, at the Feedback desk, it is generally understood that the editor is asking for general feedback; in the case of a user draft, such as this, is it ready for main space? Some explicitly ask, but some just post (or attempt to post) the article they have worked on. In this case, User:Liwumi/Ecco2_Corp. Hello, thanks for leaving a message outlining your concerns about the www.contemporaryartdaily.com links I added to a number of artists' websites. While I understand Wikipedia's need to guard against spam and promotion, I think those links pass the Wikipedia guidelines in that they 1. feature relevant copyrighted media content with permission of the exhibition spaces, 2. display many installation views not easily found elsewhere on the net, including at the galleries' pages themselves (compare, e.g., the images of the Jonathan Monk show at the gallery page and at Contemporary Art Daily) and 3. the links direct to index pages which can automatically update with additional material in the future. If you could elaborate on what you think is inappropriate about the presence of the links, that would be very helpful. 24.15.199.147 (talk) 17:45, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

I removed your links to the Contemporary Art Daily site, based on the the fact that at the time (before you explained it to me), you appeared to be adding them to many articles. I do not have anything against you nor Contemporary Art Daily. I suggest you read Wikipedia:Spam#How not to be a spammer before readding them. If, after reviewing that, you still have more questions please feel free to ask them on my talk page. I hope that made sense. Feinoha Talk, My master 18:02, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

Marked as Patrolled

Hi there, Sakura Cartelet/Archive 1. Just a little request. It seems that Twinkle, quite annoyingly, doesn't mark pages as patrolled even when you tag them for WP:CSD, WP:PROD or WP:AFD. I've just come across an article, that you'd tagged for WP:CSD on the unpatrolled list. I'm sure you already know, but if you scroll down to the bottom of the article, there will be a little link in square brackets that says [mark this page as patrolled]. Clicking that means it'll get taken off the unpatrolled list and so no-one else will come across it on that list. It's not your fault, I know; it's Twinkle's. But until they fix it, it'd be great if you could click that link just before you tag an article. I've marked that one as patrolled. If you didn't find the article via the new pages list then just ignore me; you won't have had the option to mark it as patrolled. Sorry to be a pain. Keep up the good work. Proposal

Rcsprinter (talk) 15:32, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

Could you explain why the image was removed?

In reference to my unpublished article for:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Eduncan911/Dell_XPS_730X

You removed an image. I thought something was broken, and I added it back. I didn't know you actually removed it.

But it is unclear why you removed it. I followed all of the guidelines for setting the "Non-free promotional" as well as supplying the "Non-free use rationale" along with it, per Wikipedia's guidelines.

So I am unclear why the image was removed from the article, as I clearly state exactly what the image is used for. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eduncan911 (talkcontribs) 01:19, 29 December 2011 (UTC)

As mentioned at WP:UP we are not supposed to add non-free images to user space. You can however link to them by adding a colon in front of the file name. For example, if the file "Example.jpg" were fair use (it isn't) then it would be against policy to display it on user pages. So in order to have it referenced but not shown one would do [[:File:Example.jpg]] which produces File:Example.jpg. Once you are finished making the article, and have moved it into the main namespace, you can "readd" the images by removing the colon. I hope this makes sense. Feinoha Talk, My master 01:28, 29 December 2011 (UTC)

That makes absolute PERFECT sense! Thank you! I didn't know that user spaces had different rules, as I thought it was a draft location as I prepare the document (going to take me weeks to get most of the information in there first).

I will remove the other images as well until ready for publication.

Thank you very much for actually explaining the difference. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eduncan911 (talkcontribs) 01:39, 29 December 2011 (UTC)

New Pages update

Hey Sakura Cartelet/Archive 1 :). A quick update on how things are going with the New Page Triage/New Pages Feed project. As the enwiki page notes, the project is divided into two chunks: the "list view" (essentially an updated version of Special:NewPages) and the "article view", a view you'll be presented with when you open up individual articles that contains a toolbar with lots of options to interact with the page - patrolling it, adding maintenance tags, nominating it for deletion, so on.

On the list view front, we're pretty much done! We tried deploying it to enwiki, in line with our Engagement Strategy on Wednesday, but ran into bugs and had to reschedule - the same happened on Thursday :(. We've queued a new deployment for Monday PST, and hopefully that one will go better. If it does, the software will be ready to play around with and test by the following week! :).

On the article view front, the developers are doing some fantastic work designing the toolbar, which we're calling the "curation bar"; you can see a mockup here. A stripped-down version of this should be ready to deploy fairly soon after the list view is; I'm afraid I don't have precise dates yet. When I have more info, or can unleash everyone to test the list view, I'll let you know :). As always, any questions to the talkpage for the project or mine. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 23:38, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

New Page Triage prototype released

Hey Feinoha! We've finally finished the NPT prototype and deployed it on enwiki. We'll be holding an office hours session on the 16th at 21:00 in #wikimedia-office to show it off, get feedback and plot future developments - hope to see you there! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 03:47, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

New Page Triage/New Pages Feed

Hey all :). A notification that the prototype for the New Pages Feed is now live on enwiki! We had to briefly take it down after an unfortunate bug started showing up, but it's now live and we will continue developing it on-site.

The page can be found at Special:NewPagesFeed. Please, please, please test it and tell us what you think! Note that as a prototype it will inevitably have bugs - if you find one not already mentioned at the talkpage, bring it up and I'm happy to carry it through to the devs. The same is true of any additions you can think of to the software, or any questions you might have - let me know and I'll respond.

Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 13:32, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Articles for Creation Appeal

Articles for Creation is backlogged and needs YOUR help!

Articles for Creation is desperately in need of reviewers! We are looking for urgent help, from experienced editors and administrators alike, to help us clear a record backlog of pending submissions. There is currently a significant backlog of 1019 submissions waiting to be reviewed. These submissions are generally from new editors who have never edited Wikipedia before. A prompt, constructive review of submissions could significantly editor retention.

Do you have what it takes?
  1. Are you familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines?
  2. Do you know what Wikipedia is and is not?
  3. Do you have a working knowledge of the Manual of Style, particularly article naming conventions?
  4. Are you (at least) autoconfirmed?
  5. Can you review submissions based on their individual merits?

If the answer to these questions is yes, then please read the reviewing instructions and donate a little of your time to helping tackle the backlog.

Click here to review to a random submissionArticle selected by erwin85's random article script on toolserver.

We would greatly appreciate your help. Currently, only a small handful of users are reviewing articles. Any help, even if it's just 1 or 2 reviews, would be extremely beneficial.

Page Triage newsletter

Hey all. Some quick but important updates on what we've been up to and what's coming up next :).

The curation toolbar, our Wikimedia-supported twinkle replacement. We're going to be deploying it, along with a pile of bugfixes, to wikipedia on 9 August. After a few days to check it doesn't make anything explode or die, we'll be sticking up a big notice and sending out an additional newsletter inviting people to test it out and give us feedback :). This will be followed by two office hours sessions - one on Tuesday the 14th of August at 19:00 UTC for all us Europeans, and one on Wednesday the 15th at 23:00 UTC for the East Coasters out there :). As always, these will be held in #wikimedia-office; drop me a note if you want to know how to easily get on IRC, or if you aren't able to attend but would like the logs.

I hope to see a lot of you there; it's going to be a big day for everyone involved, I think :). I'll have more notes after the deployment! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 20:10, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

New Pages newsletter

Hey all :)

A couple of new things.

First, you'll note that all the project titles have now changed to the Page Curation prefix, rather than having the New Pages Feed prefix. This is because the overarching project name has changed to Page Curation; the feed is still known as New Pages Feed, and the Curation Toolbar is still the Curation Toolbar. Hopefully this will be the last namechange ;p.

On the subject of the Curation Toolbar (nice segue, Oliver!) - it's now deployed on Wikipedia. Just open up any article in the New Pages Feed and it should appear on the right.

It's still a beta version - bugs are expected - and we've got a lot more work to do. But if you see something going wrong, or a feature missing, drop me a note or post on the project talkpage and I'll be happy to help :). Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 00:11, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:RioRainbowGate 7660.jpg

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:RioRainbowGate 7660.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. —Farix (t | c) 02:02, 8 September 2012 (UTC)

Page Curation update

Hey all :). We've just deployed another set of features for Page Curation. They include flyouts from the icons in Special:NewPagesFeed, showing who reviewed an article and when, a listing of this in the "info" flyout, and a general re-jigging of the info flyout - we've also fixed the weird bug with page_titles_having_underscores_instead_of_spaces in messages sent to talkpages, and introduced CSD logging! As always, these features will need some work - but any feedback would be most welcome. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 18:15, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

Page Curation newsletter

Hey Sakura Cartelet. This will be, if not our final newsletter, one of the final ones :). After months of churning away at this project, our final version (apart from a few tweaks and bugfixes) is now live. Changes between this and the last release include deletion tag logging, a centralised log, and fixes to things like edit summaries.

Hopefully you like what we've done with the place; suggestions for future work on it, complaints and bugs to the usual address :). We'll be holding a couple of office hours sessions, which I hope you'll all attend. Many thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 11:12, 24 September 2012 (UTC)

Page Curation newsletter - closing up!

Hey all :).

We're (very shortly) closing down this development cycle for Page Curation. It's genuinely been a pleasure to talk with you all and build software that is so close to my own heart, and also so effective. The current backlog is 9 days, and I've never seen it that low before.

However! Closing up shop does not mean not making any improvements. First-off, this is your last chance to give us a poke about unresolved bugs or report new ones on the talkpage. If something's going wrong, we want to know about it :). Second, we'll hopefully be taking another pass over the software next year. If you've got ideas for features Page Curation doesn't currently have, stick them here.

Again, it's been an honour. Thanks :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 12:18, 17 October 2012 (UTC)

This is not a newsletter

This is just a tribute.

Anyway. You're getting this note because you've participated in discussion and/or asked for updates to either the Article Feedback Tool or Page Curation. This isn't about either of those things, I'm afraid ;p. We've recently started working on yet another project: Echo, a notifications system to augment the watchlist. There's not much information at the moment, because we're still working out the scope and the concepts, but if you're interested in further updates you can sign up here.

In addition, we'll be holding an office hours session at 21:00 UTC on Wednesday, 14 November in #wikimedia-office - hope to see you all there :). I appreciate it's an annoying time for non-Europeans: if you're interested in chatting about the project but can't make it, give me a shout and I can set up another session if there's enough interest in one particular timezone or a skype call if there isn't. Global account

Hi Feinoha! As a Steward I'm involved in the upcoming unification of all accounts organized by the Wikimedia Foundation (see m:Single User Login finalisation announcement). By looking at your account, I realized that you don't have a global account yet. In order to secure your name, I recommend you to create such account on your own by submitting your password on Special:MergeAccount and unifying your local accounts. If you have any problems with doing that or further questions, please don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Cheers, —DerHexer (Talk) 12:54, 18 January 2015 (UTC)

RE: Bad Usernames

Hello Feinoha, It says on WP:UAA that usernames cannot be reported unless it has been used in the last 2-3 weeks. There are still countless name violations, even if their pages have been left untouched. That's why I've been leaving these messages. Evking22 (talk) 23:36, 27 April 2016 (UTC)

Yeah, but since these haven't been used in a long time (if ever caveat since I'm not an admin I can't check their deleted contribs) I guess it's okay to keep doing that. Although if it was recently created/used then report away. Feinoha Talk 23:45, 27 April 2016 (UTC)

I'm currently in the process of making the article that is why I removed what was there. It will take me a few hours to complete the article but it will be up shortly. User:KieranWard94 (talk) 00:19, 06 May 2016 (UTC)

Oh that makes sense now thanks for explaining your actions to me. Although next time you could avoid confusion by making sure to use an edit summary to explain your future plans. Feinoha Talk 00:23, 6 May 2016 (UTC)

Removal of comments, warnings

Do you read the talk page guidelines per WP:BLANKING? Added ow template under that. KGirlTrucker87 talk what I'm been doing 22:34, 14 May 2016 (UTC)

Yeah I just re-read it again. The problem I typically notice is that when anons remove the warnings (that are not old/obsolete) it tends to result in people (and bots in particular) issuing the same warnings ie {{Uw-vandalism1}} multiple times which results in the vandal doing more damage before an admin can stop them. That said if it was old/ancient (a few days ago for IPs) or maybe a few months for users I try to not revert unless they are replacing the talk page with personal attacks and similar things. That said if they remove it more than twice I just leave it alone since I don't want to edit war with anons/users over something that is (usually) trivial Feinoha Talk 03:00, 15 May 2016 (UTC)

But you keep deleting stuff from the page without commenting on the talk page so it looks similar to vandalism or at least disruptive editing. Feinoha Talk 18:37, 20 May 2016 (UTC)

combining RfDs

Nah I use twinkle too that is about the only tool I use. The way to do it is to go to the edit discussion for the day's page (in this case for example Wikipedia:Redirects_for_discussion/Log/2016_May_23 then just manually take out the section header for the second listing. Leave the listing of course. Each of the individual entries has a "span" tag (I can't remember if it is HTTP or Wikimarkup off the top of me head) that will still mean the individual discussion headers at the redirect pages will refer back to it perfectly happily, so that's no problem, just take out the section header just the header. Not your fault not mine not anyone's, the second one was closed in really quite a hurry before I had a chance to combine or ask people if it was oK to combine. They're both red now so no big deal but just if that makes sense to you as kinda a "trick of the trade". Si Trew (talk) 13:46, 23 May 2016 (UTC)

Okay I finally now see what you were trying to do. I initially got a bit confused when you (appeared) to be deleting some text without an (apparent) explanation and replacing it with a (then) non-existing template. I think it would of been less of a chance of misunderstanding if you had either created the template first then replaced the text or put something similar in the edit reason to make your intentions clear. New page reviewer granted

Hello Feinoha. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria.

  • Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
  • Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. MusikAnimal talk 23:35, 31 October 2016 (UTC)

New deal for page patrollers

Hi Sakura Cartelet,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)

fictional Character

Hello, i have a question about my recently deleted article, you had nothing to do with it, but i just need someone to guide me as i am new to the system, originally i took about an hour to write about a fictional charactor in my completed book,As Time Settles, but it was instant deleted and marked as vandilism? My question is why is a fictional charactor like Spock allowed to have an entry?

Well in the case of Spock, we have an article for him because he has plenty of reliable (real world) sources that discuss his impact on the media, people's reactions to him etc. If you want your fictional character to have an article, maybe you should try Wikia. Their guidelines for inclusion is (generally speaking) much less stringent than that of Wikipedia and may allow for content that we can't or don't want to have here. PS. Sorry for the late reply. New Page Review needs your help

Hi Sakura Cartelet,

As an AfC reviewer you're probably aware that a new user right has been created for patrolling new pages (you might even have been granted the right already, and admins have it automatically).

Since July there has been a very serious backlog at Special:NewPagesFeed of over 14,000 pages, by far the worst since 2011, and we need an all out drive to get this back down to just a few hundred that can be easily maintained in the future. Unlike AfC, these pages are already in mainspace, and the thought of what might be there is quite scary. There are also many good faith article creators who need a simple, gentle push to the Tea House or their pages converted to Draft rather than being deleted.

Although New Page Reviewing can occasionally be somewhat more challenging than AfC, the criteria for obtaining the right are roughly the same. The Page Curation tool is even easier to use than the Helper Script, so it's likely that most AfC reviewers already have more than enough knowledge for the task of New Page Review.

It is hoped that AfC reviewers will apply for this right at WP:PERM and lend a hand. You'll need to have read the page at WP:NPR and the new tutorial.

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

Hello, Feinoha. False-positive sensor is broken

Please help me. The false-positive sensor is broken in templates for lines on the Los Angeles Metro. The sensor will only let me blank those pages and will not let me restore back the revision before the page was blanked and it will not let me constructively edit the page. 71.198.231.208 (talk) 05:43, 25 November 2016 (UTC)

This is serious. It's preventing me from making any useful contributions to the LA Metro Line Templates. 71.198.231.208 (talk) 07:59, 25 November 2016 (UTC)

I'm sorry to hear about that, but as I don't have the necessary rights (and ability/knowledge) I can't fix the problem with the filters. However if you try to explain your edits in detail, I could try to see if I could do them for you. Feinoha Talk 17:19, 25 November 2016 (UTC)

New Page Review - newsletter

Hello Sakura Cartelet,
Breaking the back of the backlog
We now have 816 New Page Reviewers! Most of you requested the user right to be able to do something about the huge backlog. Now it's time for action.
Mid July to 01 Oct 2016

If each reviewer does only 10 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
Let's get that over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.

Second set of eyes

Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work. Read about it at the new Monitoring the system section in the tutorial.

A recent edit

Hello. I've just spotted this edit. Although the revision you selected is technically the more accurate, it was not a case of vandalism or any other type of edit that required WP:ROLLBACK. In fact, it wasn't a test either. The name of Kosovo is rendered by many people as Kosova when using English including by its majority population. The version Kosova sits behind Kosovo as the preferred name but it is by no means wrong. The user acted without consensus, of that there is no doubt. But it was clearly a good faith edit whereby he/she had hoped for his/her revision to set the standard. I just thought I'd let you know for future reference. Thanks. --OJ (talk) 20:32, 29 November 2016 (UTC)

Well at the time I did the rollback I noticed that they had both linked to a nonexistent page and apparently changed one letter from Kosovo to Kosova which at the time of the revert appeared to be a form of test edit or at least minor vandalism (I only learned later via research that yes there is a Kosova). Admittedly I probably should have used undo instead of rollback in this particular case, however I can't "undo" (no pun intended) my rollback and change it to an undo, so I'll just have to pay more attention when using it in the future. Feinoha Talk 00:56, 30 November 2016 (UTC)
No no, of course we can't cancel former actions! I never thought for a moment your intentions were bad. After all, my revision and yours are the same for all the reasons you provided. It happens across Kosovo-related pages frequently that an editor will come along and change the name of a settlement or municipality from its Albanian to Serbian or vice-versa. About half the articles are in one language name and the other half the opposing. So the correct name for English Wikipedia is moot. Anyhow, thanks for your warm and well-meaning reply. regards. --OJ (talk) 07:52, 30 November 2016 (UTC)
