In "The Cover Up", Argus enters Monsters, Inc. which various monsters witness his arrival, which Sulley feels worried that of Argus telling Mike that if he finds a problem, he might shut down Monsters, Incorporated. He then introduces himself to Mike and Sulley trying to determine the culprit who caused a blackout earlier and whether a shutdown or a change in management is in order. Seeing the money on the clipboard covering the form, Argus asks Mike to know if he is trying to bribe him to which as Mike continues discussing with Argus, he directs the two to Mike and Sulley's office. As they arrive, Sulley is discussing with Argus to know if he should take him to the control room which the latter replies to him that his eyes can see everything just as he opens his case to reveal highly-trained inspection orbs, eight individual eyeballs, to seek out the malfunction and find the culprit who caused the power outage. Argus' inspection eyes travel via pneumatic tube to find the culprit who caused the power outage.

As Argus' eyeballs return, he reports to Mike and Sulley that the cause of the outage is inconclusive. One more eyes arrives at the office into Argus' suitcase where it stares at Argus, explaining that he must have someone responsible for the power outage as he plans to arrive at the ground control. Sun as Argus arrives, he punishes Tylor, Val, and Cutter for violating numerous M.E.R.C. codes, as the inspection eyes found out the cause which Argus scolds Duncan for being responsible for the actions of his team as temporary supervisor, threatening him to be fired from his job or banished fro his company, which Tylor replies to him to give him a break. Argus tells the MIFT team that he has been working non-stop as a M.E.R.C. official for twenty years only for the last canister that Tylor couldn't pull from the ceiling to fall on Argus, knocking him out unconsciously which Tylor, Duncan, Val, and Cutter notice of what happened to him just as Duncan and Tylor plan to give him a vacation break, much to Val and Cutter feeling sure if this should be a good idea as the two successfully toss him through the vacation door. Just as Tylor and Duncan discuss with Val and Cutter that nobody saw Argus being tossed away. the inspection eyes then notice of what Tylor and Duncan did to Argus as the MIFT team plans to close the case so the eyes won't notice what they did to him which they were able to do so.

Two weeks since Argus visited Monsters, Inc. have passed, just as Cutter activates the vacation door where Argus returns to MIFT, telling the MIFT team that he had the best vacation in his life, followed by Fritz who came from vacation just as the two feel satisfied of having their vacation. Mike and Sulley approach Argus who plans to thank the MIFT team for giving him a wonderful vacation just as Argus leaves Monsters, Incorporated.
