Card Design: Pattie's Creations Challenge #120... GREEN is the Color and anything with Green goes!

Ummm....oops.  I was sure I had scheduled this post but I guess I didn't.  The sad thing is that it was ready to go on time.  Unfortunately, I've only been out of bed for a couple hours in the last 48 so I didn't get a chance to check and make sure my Friday posts went out.  Apologies to Pattie and the gang for the lateness in getting my post published.

Hey folks!  I'm here today to announce the next challenge over at Pattie's Creations Design ChallengeThis time around for Challenge #120, the theme is GREEN is the Color and anything with Green goes!  With St. Patrick's Day coming up this month and wishes for spring all around us, I'm sure that you'll have no problem creating a project with the colour GREEN

Here is my card, I hope that I haven't forgotten any important details:

General Info:

  • I've kept this one pretty clean and simple.  I found a card a while back from CAS(E) This Sketch #91 created by Donna that I really liked.  I've  cased Donna's specific card pretty closely. If you want to see the one that inspired me, just click the link to the sketch challenge.

Challenges I am hoping to enter...

You have until March 31st to enter our challenge which should give you lots of time to get a creation done.  Remember the theme is GREEN is the Color and anything with Green goes!  I really hope that you will be able to join us. Don't forget that along with all the typical rules that apply to the majority of challenges out there (please click HERE to become familiar with all the rules), you MUST USE A DIGITAL OR STAMPED IMAGE to qualify for the drawing (unless stated otherwise). We would absolutely love to see you use a Pattie's Creations (PC) image on your card, but you are allowed to use other images. If you do use a PC image, you will gain an extra entry in the draw and will have a better chance to WIN! You can enter twice per challenge and of course MUST follow all the challenge requirements that are posted for each challenge. Easy Peasy right!

Pop over to the challenge blog and check out what my fabulous teammates have offered up for inspiration.  Oh and don't forget...Pattie offers up a new freebie the first Friday of the month and it will remain up for approximately two weeks; so, be sure to pop over and check it out as well!

Until next time,

Card Design: Scribbles Designs Challenge #8--CAS

It is time for the next challenge over at the Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog.

This month for Challenge #8, we are looking for projects that are Clean and Simple.  I love clean and simple cards but they definitely challenge me.  I look at other people's CAS cards and think they look wonderful and then I look at mine and always think that something is missing!  So get ready to show off those streamlined cards, stripped down to the bare basics.

In order to particpate in our challenges you DO NOT NEED TO USE A SCRIBBLES DESIGNS IMAGE on your project.  You still must follow the monthly theme and you can enter as many times as you'd like AS LONG AS YOU USE A SCRIBBLES DESIGNS IMAGE. However, if you choose to enter the challenge using another artist's image you are limited to three entriesAs always, you are welcome to combine your entry with other challenges and we ask that you enter new projects/cards only - no back linking, plus the standard rules of linking your blog post and mentioning Scribbles Designs in your post.  This challenge will end at 9pm PST on September 15th.

The winner, chosen by Random.org will receive 3 digital images.  If you use a Scribbles Designs image, please add SD after your name--example: Lisa SD--and your name will be entered twice into the drawing for the prize.  Additionally, there will be 1 digital image handed out for each of the Top 3, chosen by the Scribbles Designs Design Team.  We look forward to seeing your interpretation of this month's theme. There also might be some extra recognition or prizes, you just never know.

You can purchase your Scribbles Designs images HERE.
You can also find some free sentiments from Sandy's personal blog HERE and there is a free one over on the challenge blog as well.

To help inspire you, I've created a card using Sandy's wonderful Topiary Tree image.  Click on the watermark below to take you to its location in the store.

 #632 Topiary 1

Here are the card and details, I hope I haven't forgotten anything...

General Notes:

  • I actually created the layout for this card about three or four months ago when I was creating another small thank you card.  Since I was designing each to be one layer on the front, I wanted to print out two cards at the same time to utilize my paper wisely. I stuck it in my 'projects to finish' folder and set it aside.  I knew I'd be able to use it eventually for a challenge and this month's CAS challenge is absolutely perfect!
FRONT

Digital Image:
  • Topiary Tree:  Information for where to buy this image is included above.  While these may see like odd colour choices for the base and bow, you'll understand when you see the inside.  It was coloured using Copic markersY21, Y23, E25 (base); YG61, YG63, YG67 (tree); V12, V15, V17 (ribbon & bow); BG10 for grounding around the image.  Watercolour pencils for the ground.
    • I was really happy to finally work with this awesome image.  I've been wanting to create with it from the moment I first saw it.  There is a snow capped topiary that I want to make into a Christmas card.  Hmmm...maybe that will be my midway card...
    • Here is a closer look, although the 'sky' got a bit washed out in the close up from the flash...
Digital Sentiment:
  • Mine.

INSIDE-Overall

Digital Sentiment:
    • Another great sentiment from the ever fabulous and generous Paulette from Create With TLC. Click HERE to go to Paulette's blog and HERE to go to the store.
      • I re-coloured it to match my font colour on the front.
      • Here is a closer look...
    Paper Products:
    • Designer Papers:  Floral paper--K & C Company Designer Paper--Best of...florals collection. I'm afraid that the green came from my scraps folder so I don't know off the top of my head which paper pad it is from.  My guess is that it is Recollections.

    OVERALL
    Paper Products:
    • Card base: Michael's Recollection's Cardstock, white.
    • Damask designer papers (front & inside) along with shimmery bronze cardstock used as a shadow (front, inside & back):  Michael's open stock scrapbook paper.
So get those creative juices flowing and come up with a CAS card.  Remember you have an entire month to  enter at the Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog.  While you are there, please check out the great inspiration offered up from my colleagues on the DT.  We look forward to seeing what you come up with for this month's theme!

Thank you so much for stopping by.  As I've now added to my comment section, whether you are a regular, here for the first time or popping over in your official capacity as a DT member, please know how much I appreciate the words that you leave behind.  Your encouragement helps me to become a better designer.   I try my best to reply to your comments (when an email address is available) but that is getting more and more difficult as my plate fills up with new responsibilities, new roles, and new obligations.  If I don't get the opportunity to thank you personally, know that I don't take a single comment for granted. Thank you for your understanding.

    Until next time,
