"A Song of Storms" is a Shrine Quest in Breath of the Wild.[1]

Overview

At Calora Lake in West Necluda, Link can find Kass singing about Lightning.[2] He is impressed that Link was able to make it up so high in spite of the Thunderstorm,[3] though he recognizes that such a feat is feasible for a traveler like Link.[4] Even though it is Raining, Kass's feathers are able to repel the wetness, and his bandonean is designed to withstand moisture.[5] His livelihood collecting "Ancient Songs" has prepared him for such a scenario.[6]

On that topic, Kass reveals that he knows an "Ancient Song" pertaining to the area,[7] and he asks Link if he would like to hear it.[8] When Link agrees, Kass will then sing it for him.[9] The song details a lost hero calling Lightning from the sky, at which point a Monk will respond from a Giant Mound.[10] Though Kass realizes that there is a puzzle within the lyrics, he thinks it could apply to many things.[11] He bids Link farewell,[12] which initiates the Shrine Quest.

To access the Ancient Shrine, Link must attract the Thunderstorm's Lightning to the Giant Mound with a metal Weapon. When it is struck, the Mound will shatter, revealing Qukah Nata Shrine.[13] Once Link activates the Shrine, the Shrine Quest will be completed.

Trivia

  • This Shrine Quest is hinted at in Kass's Journal, which can be found in a hut on Washa's Bluff.[14] Kass has heard about the "Ancient Song" about the Giant Mound at Calora Lake, but since the area is prone to Thunderstorms, he will need to prepare before he investigates.[15]
  • The name of this Shrine Quest is a reference to the "Song of Storms," a song from Ocarina of Time.
