"Drytron" (ドライトロン Doraitoron) is an archetype of LIGHT Machine Special Summon Monsters which debuted in Deck Build Pack: Genesis Impactors.

Members[]

The Main Deck monster's names are based on stars in the constellation of Draco. In addition to that, they feature their corresponding star and the part of the constellation in which it is located in their artwork's background. The full constellation can be seen in "Meteonis Drytron". Most of the Spell/Trap card names are based on stellar phenomena.

Playing style[]

The deck is focused around ritual summoning monsters from hand or graveyard tributing light machine monsters from you hand or field whose whose attack value equals or exceeds the ritual monsters attack value. It is the first archetype to utilize this new mechanic of ritual summoning, all the others requiring levels and not attack value. All the Level 1 Drytron monsters have 2000 ATK and 0 DEF, as well as the following effects:

"Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned with the effect of a "Drytron" card. You can Tribute 1 other "Drytron" monster, or 1 Ritual Monster, from your hand or field; Special Summon this card from your hand or GY in Defense Position, then you can . . . You cannot Special Summon monsters, except monsters that cannot be Normal Summoned/Set, the turn you activate this effect. You can only use this effect of "[this card]" once per turn."

Each main deck monster contains a secondary clause which is part of its summoning effect (listed above). The deck's two ritual monsters have 4000 Attack so they will most like require two Drytron monsters to summon them and if they are ritual summoned with monsters whose total levels equal two, they gain a second effect. During your opponents turn, Meteonis Draconids can banish monsters from your graveyard whose total attack equals 2000 or 4000 and targets and sends face-up cards your opponent controls to the graveyard equal to the multiples of 2000 in the total. As its secondary effect, Draconids can attack all special summoned monsters your opponent controls once each. If Meteonis Quadrantids was ritual summoned and is destroyed, you can special summon Drytron monsters from your graveyard whose tota attack equals 4000. As a second effect, Meteonis Quadrantids can destroy all spells and traps your opponent controls. The Ritual spell, Metonis Drytron, allows you to ritual summon monsters from your hand or graveyard by tributing Light Machine monsters whose total attack equals or exceeds the ritual monster's attack. It can also be recurred from the graveyard by targeting a Drytron monster and making it lose 1000 Attack.

Cards that mesh very well are Cyber Emergency, Where Arf Thou, and Foolish Burial to tutor the Drytron Monsters. Drytron has seen a lot of competitive success with Cyber Angel Benten and a large Light Fairy monster engine, including: Eva, Artifact Lancea, Herald of Orange, Green, and Purple Light, Vanity's Ruler, Herald of Ultimateness, etc. Preparation of Rites is a good card to search Benten and can also be used to recur Meteonis Drytron for a third time or more. Extra deck monsters such as Union Carrier is a light machine, which makes it a target for Meteonis Drytron to use as material. Also, equipping Carrier with Dawn Knight will allow you to send more Drytron names to your graveyard. Lastly, cards like Linkuriboh and Relinquished Anima are perfect for the Drytron deck as they are all level 1 monsters.
