Nightwing looks at a beetle mini-drone. Its icon can be seen on the bottom right of his darkwear interface.
Mini-drones are small drones used by the Team and the Outsiders. Two models have been used: the Beetle mini-drone (BMD), a smaller, insect-shaped version; and a larger, more capable version shaped like a small plane. Both models can be remotely controled by Oracle, or operate on internal programming with voice commands. Its camera feed can be seen via darkwear interface.
Appearance & abilities[]
The beetle mini-drone has a black upper body, with grey undersides and legs. It has six legs ending in hooks, three horns surounding its single large "eye" camera, and flies on a pair of wings. The wings make a quiet, insect-like buzz. It is small enough to be easily concealed in the palm of one's hand. The drone has not demonstrated any features beyond its camera.[1]
The larger model is plane-shaped, with fixed wings that can fold for storage, and it about three times the size of the beetle-shaped model. This model has a camouflage system to make up for its size and indiscreet shape. In addition to its camera, it is equipped with a sonic pulse generator, is able to deliver small cargo such as a lockpick,[2] can shoot tasers from its underside, and can place tracers on people.[3]
History[]
2018[]
Nightwing deployed a beetle mini-drone to follow Brion Markov and Simon Ecks into the Markovburg Children's Hospital.[4] When he followed it and went inside an area with radio jamming, it lost contact with Oracle, so Nightwing directed it by voice command.[1]
Nightwing used a beetle mini-drone again to scout the meta-human auction site in Al-Qawiya.[5]
Beast Boy used a beetle mini-drone to scout the site of Klarion's meta-trafficking operation in Santiago de Cuba. It was quickly eaten by the Flesh Monster.[6]
2019[]
Aquqman deployed a beetle mini-drone for Oracle before he and Wyynde went into Gretchen Goode's house in search of Nightwing and Black Lightning.[7]

Tigress deploys a larger mini-drone.
Tigress deployed a larger mini-drone, which was operated by Oracle, while infiltrating the League of Shadows on Santa Prisca. Oracle used it to find Orphan's holding cell and give her a lock pick. She had the drone fire a sonic pulse to disable the infiltrators,[2] and used its taser weapon system on several Shadows. Oracle also had the drone discreetly place trackers on all of Tigress's squad.[3]
