U (Japanese: ユー, Yū) is a character in Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

Overview[]

U is the Consul of Colony Tau.

She is first mentioned by Juniper shortly after meeting the party, who claims she rarely comes to the colony. She makes her first appearance before the party after defeating an invading pack of Volffs, with the colony lowering their guards around her.

Similar to Consul F, this Consul initially appears almost admirable, not only showing no apparent hostility towards Colony Tau and Ouroboros (calling the latter "Ouro Berries"), but also claiming to be an individualist and not resenting the destruction of the Flame Clock because it was "the people's choice". Peculiarly, the consul acts endearingly towards Juniper, calling them "June Bug". She sends the party to gather some herbs to get rid of some "nuisances" with them, which are initially believed to be monsters. Though the party is initially suspicious at the bizarre request of this Consul, they abide at the further request of others from Tau.

Not long after, both her friendly facade and the apparent monster hunting scheme are both revealed to be giant farces as her psychopathic tendencies start to show. She makes a bonfire with the gathered herbs knowing it would attract monsters as opposed to repelling them, and reveals that the "nuisances" she was talking about eliminating were not monsters, but the people of Colony Tau themselves, luring a large group of Rhinons for that task.

She then also reveals that she has been convening with and luring enemy soldiers and monsters to cull off Colony Tau's population and also planted and designed several hindering customs for the colony to also reduce their numbers. She also purposefully let them run low on life energy while setting up encounters with weaker monsters so as to barely sustain them.

Her motivation for these vile acts is all to see them act in desperation and suffering. Because she gets excited by seeing her people's anguish and performances when on the brink of death, and her neutrality towards the flame clock's destruction was because she could make the people of Tau suffer more by threatening to take away their new reality now that they were intent on living true, with her goal to leave Juniper as the sole survivor to better savor their despair. She is killed by Juniper after the party defeats her Moebius form as well as the monsters she lured.

Moebius U is a Quest Exclusive Boss who is a Moebius fought at level 50 at the Colony Tau Entrance in High Maktha Wildwood during Survivors.
