The result of the discussion was: delete. The file is already on Commons, and so what I did was run the local version through CommonsHelper on the Toolserver, and then replaced the existing file description page on Commons with the new one that I generated with CommonsHelper. That tool automatically preserves edit history and what have you, and anyone can do this kind of repair work with incomplete Commons transfers. So I believe we are good to go on this front! - Keep - in the context of computer graphics, it is possible that coarser rendering might be preferred, somewhere down the line, for pedagogic reasons. Thparkth (talk) 19:24, 19 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment there is a do not delete tag on the file, saying that Commons' attribution history is faulty, and needs to be fixed, before this is deleted. 65.93.12.101 (talk) 06:05, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

- File:Tc thy tcthg.jpg (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Mjroots (notify | contribs | uploads).
Unnecessary non-free image. A picture of the exact aircraft that crashed is just a decoration for the article about it's crash. There's nothing on the image that explains or clarifies how and why the aircraft crashed. The aircraft model could be illustrated by a free image. Damiens.rf 16:06, 18 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete - OK, I agree with this deletion. Apart from the registration, a photograph of another THY aircraft of this model would do the job adequately. Mjroots (talk) 17:40, 18 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Decorative use of a non-free image from Reuters news agency. Damiens.rf 16:09, 18 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep for both articles - The image is correctly credited to Reuters, it is of low resolution and does not affect the copyright holders ability to profit from the image. It is not-replaceable and the use of the image in both articles is to illustrate the amount of damage done, not for decorative purposes. Mjroots (talk) 17:42, 18 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free image most likely belonging to some news or photo agency that was copied from some copyright infringing website. Damiens.rf 16:12, 18 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep - This is an irreplicable and irreplaceable historic image showing the aftermath of an important aircrash. It is at a low resolution which would not affect the copyright holder's ability to profit from the image. I don't buy the argument that the source allegedly infringing copyright prevents the image being used on Wikipedia with correct declaration of status and a NFUR. Mjroots (talk) 17:46, 18 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- When we freely use a newsworthy photograph like this, the copyright holder is already loosing an opportunity to profit from the image. --Damiens.rf 14:26, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

- File:SS LESBIAN (3).jpg (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Mjroots (notify | contribs | uploads).
Non-free image copied from some copyright infringing web-forum. Damiens.rf 16:14, 18 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep - This is an irreplaceable image of a ship. Photographs on Ships Nostalgia are mostly uploaded by the copyright holders. Many members of that forum are retired merchant mariners. Again, the image is irreplaceable, and low resolution. The argument re whether or not the source is infringing on anyone's copyright has nothing to do with the photograph being hosted on Wikipedia with correct declaration of its status and NFUR. Dating from between 1923 and 1940, the image may well be in the Public Domain, but in the absence of proof of this, it is being treated as copyrighted. Mjroots (talk) 17:50, 18 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep The file has a suitable NFUR and is not replaceable as the ship no longer exists. Jezhotwells (talk) 18:25, 18 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Suggest a speedy Keep - valid FUR, no grounds for deletion as no free-license image is available. Parsecboy (talk) 19:41, 18 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free photograph of some public figures shaking hands in public. Not needed to understand the text, fails NFCC#8. Fut.Perf. ☼ 23:30, 18 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep, (per uploader), and would rephrase above as "Non-free photograph of the subject of the article at an event discussed in the article commentary in relevant article section and caption." --Wikiwatcher1 (talk) 00:06, 19 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- And why do the readers need to see the handshake to understand the discussion about the event? --Damiens.rf 14:30, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Some did. Almost 300 readers "needed" to see the original enlarged photo over the last 5 days. --Wikiwatcher1 (talk) 02:04, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete: clearly an unnecessary non-free image fails WP:NFCC#8 per nom. ww2censor (talk) 04:33, 23 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
