Hi, I've been looking at the revisions you've made, and I agree with all but I was trying to do was to create a relationship and harmony between all the articles on the wiki, so that it would be easier to navigate the taxonomy of the species, and since Grylloidea currently excludes Gryllotalpidae and Myrmecophilidae, moving them to a separate superfamily (Gryllotalpoidea), with this two superfamilies included in the infraorder Gryllidea, I thought it would be more effective to put this infraorder in the cladogram and the taxonomic information because in this way it does not exclude mole crickets and maintains coherence between the articles on the English wiki. But I do apologize for mixing up the infraorder with the superfamilies, and what I have done is include the Gryllotalpoidea along with Grylloidea, and the others superfamilies, in the taxonomy list. Hi kevin, according to the taxonomy list in wikipedia, all the species in Billfish are classified as carangiformes but when you go to article about carangiformes you dont find the billfishes in that section and also all the sources i found so far don't list billfishes as a part of carangiformes, I came to you as I know you are a knowledgeable person in this field, and also I believe you know better than i do, so please do help. Codonified I wouldnt say I'm an expert, but the issue you are running into is pretty simple. The Carangiformes and "Billfish" articles are following two differing classifications. Carangiformes is still using Fishes of the world 5th ed (2016) which is noted to be conservative in aproach due to being completed posthumously after the author passed. "Billfish" is following the more recent Eschmeyer's Catalog of Fishes Classification (see here) with adjustments for the broader definition found in paleontology liturature. What should happen is Carangiformes being updated to follow Eschmeyers expanded phylogeny of the order. With regards to your searching, remember you will have the most luck searching for the family or suborder names rather than the colloquial "billfish" which is not a regulated term and will not appear often in taxonomy literature. --Kevmin § 17:37, 10 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
