Jeffrey I. Kessler is an American lawyer.[1] He is currently a partner in WilmerHale's International Trade Practice.[2] He was Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Enforcement and Compliance during the first Trump presidency.[3][4][5] In January 2025, Reuters reported that Trump was considering nominating Kessler to serve as Under Secretary of Commerce for Industry and Security in his second administration.[6][7]

Kessler holds a BA from Yale, an MA from the University of Chicago, and an MA and JD from Stanford.[3]

Career

Kessler rejoined WilmerHale after serving as Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Enforcement and Compliance in January 2021.[8][9]
