Motivation
[edit]Notified participants of WikiProject Medicine
Following the discussion on Wikidata_talk:WikiProject_Medicine#Hospitals, it appears that this is a key element to add to these items. A dedicated property makes it easier to add values for different points in time (when available). (Add your motivation for this property here.)
Please help complete the proposal above. --- Jura 10:23, 25 May 2019 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]- Comment looks like some hospital items use maximum capacity (P1083) (without units) for this. I don't think it's a correct use of that property. --- Jura 05:45, 26 May 2019 (UTC)

- Question Should not the value be constrained to be a whole number (a.k.a. non-negative integer)? LeadSongDog (talk) 15:54, 27 May 2019 (UTC)
- I'd think so, but integers would still need quantity datatype. --- Jura 16:39, 27 May 2019 (UTC)
- Question Further, shouldn't it be multivalued, each value to pertain to a date range? Most hospitals do not keep the same number of beds for their entire existence. LeadSongDog (talk) 16:23, 27 May 2019 (UTC)
- Yes, ideally, which makes the approach with P2670 suboptimal. --- Jura 16:39, 27 May 2019 (UTC)
- Question I am curious if we can apply this property to beds for hotels and hospitals. Could this be used for lodging of all sort, including hospitals and hotels? If so, change to "number of beds". list of largest hotels (Q382051) Blue Rasberry (talk) 14:36, 28 May 2019 (UTC)
- Maybe, .. though the English version of the list is by room, not by bed. Possibly for hotels, beyond 500, there isn't much of a difference. A separate "number of rooms" could be suitable for these and buildings in general. --- Jura 11:49, 29 May 2019 (UTC)
- @Bluerasberry: shall we go ahead with this as proposed? --- Jura 12:45, 1 June 2019 (UTC)
- @Jura1: Yes, go as proposed. The hotel thing could be sorted in the future if we later feel it matters enough. Blue Rasberry (talk) 15:00, 2 June 2019 (UTC)
Done @Bluerasberry, Jura1, ديفيد عادل وهبة خليل 2, Lucas Werkmeister, LeadSongDog: created as number of hospital beds (P6801). Enjoy! --99of9 (talk) 06:41, 3 June 2019 (UTC)
