The White house was planned by George Washington but he never lived in it. Eight years later the Adams moved in. In the war of 1812, the unfinished house was burnt down. The Adams told James Hoban to re build the house. On 1871 James Monroe moved in. President Theodore Roosevelt added the second floor the Presidents place. President William Howard Taft added the Oval Room.
I love the who was books and the show. This is my only “Where is” book and it’s my favorite and my least favorite. I like the “Who is” books better but this one was good. I love learning about history and if was a bit funny when one if the floors broke because some President's daughter’s piano fell through! My favorite president is George Washington because he did the most in the new government. I actually really liked this book. It had a bunch of different stories. It talked about different animals and things that were put in the white house. They also talked about different parties that they had and how it was built. I really liked the book because some of the things were about children. Also there was lots of funny things. ( )
